Background / History

Kara was launched from Krypton by her parents to escape the planet’s collapse and care for her younger cousin, Kal-El. A meteorite struck her spacecraft shortly after departure, knocking it off course and placing her in prolonged hibernation. Clark’s ship reached Earth in 1980, while Kara’s did not land until 1996. The Danvers discovered, adopted, and raised her. 23

The impact damaged Kara’s memories. She remembered being an alien and having a relative somewhere on Earth, but could not remember whom she had been sent to find. Her memories returned when Robet introduced her to Clark; she recognized him as Kal-El and told him of Jor-El and Lara’s sacrifice. 23 32
