Mito Uzumaki: Plans Have Changed, Hiruzen, Go Scout Things Out First

Uchiha Tomita looked at Uchiha Nan before him and sighed helplessly. He had never imagined such an outcome, not even in his dreams.

He had truly been ousted by Uchiha Nan.

But this outcome was not entirely unacceptable. Uchiha Nan possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan; the Uchiha Clan's future would surely be bright!

"Clan Head!"

Uchiha Tomita dropped to one knee before Uchiha Nan and took a magatama carved from jade from his robes. It was the token of the Uchiha Clan Head, passed down through generations of the Uchiha Clan.

When Uchiha Madara had left Konoha, he had not taken it with him. He had only taken the Uchiha Gunbai.

"Lord Tomita, Konoha's Defensive Barrier has been destroyed! An enemy has broken into Konoha!"

The Anbu ninja's voice gradually faded when he saw Uchiha Tomita kneeling before Uchiha Nan.

What kind of play was this? The Uchiha Clan Head was kneeling before everyone?

Seeing the Anbu ninja enter, Uchiha Tomita rose to his feet and said:

"I am no longer the Uchiha Clan Head. The current head of the Uchiha Clan is Lord Uchiha Nan!"

The fox-masked ninja froze at those words and looked toward Uchiha Nan. Before he could process this shocking news, he had momentarily forgotten his mission.

Several seconds later, he finally snapped out of it and requested that Uchiha Nan lead the Uchiha Clan in defending Konoha.

What enemy attack?

Uchiha Nan was somewhat confused. Then he remembered that his earlier strike seemed to have shattered something. It was probably Konoha's Defensive Barrier.

"Stand down from alert. Konoha's Defensive Barrier was destroyed by the aftershock of one of my casual strikes."

Huh?

Was that even something a person could say?

Did he really think Konoha's Defensive Barrier was some piece of junk? It was the collective masterpiece of sealing master Mito Uzumaki and research expert Tobirama Senju.

According to the tests, it would take the repeated bombardment of over a dozen jonin's ninjutsu to destroy it, or an attack by an S-rank Forbidden Jutsu.

A casual strike, and just its aftershock at that?

The fox-masked ninja did not argue. After receiving Uchiha Nan's firm confirmation, he immediately returned to report.

The man before him was the Uchiha Clan's new head. What good would offending him do? Besides, he was in the Uchiha Clan's home turf, so he had to keep a low profile.

Before long, the fox-masked ninja had reported the truth, and the misunderstanding caused by Uchiha Nan was quickly resolved.

However, the repercussions were far from over. Uchiha Nan's casual strike had caused an enormous disturbance.

The Senju Clan, the Hyuga Clan, Secret Jutsu Families such as Ino-Shika-Cho, and many smaller Ninja Clans had all already armed themselves, prepared to fight to the death.

What sort of enemy could silently reach Konoha's doorstep and so easily destroy Konoha's Defensive Barrier?

Combined with the news of the Second Hokage Tobirama Senju's death, could Konoha be finished?

Thus, every clan sprang into action, mobilizing their respective forces. Before much time had passed, intelligence regarding everything that had happened to the Uchiha Clan that afternoon had reached the hands of every major clan head.

Learning the truth was no less shocking than an attack on Konoha's doorstep.

The Uchiha Clan Head had changed, from Uchiha Tomita to Uchiha Nan. That alone was nothing; the crucial point was that Uchiha Nan had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan!!

Some of those clan heads had lived from the founding of Konoha until now. They had personally witnessed Hashirama Senju's Wood Style and Uchiha Madara's Susanoo.

Two towering giants had clashed in battle, and even their casual strikes had shaken heaven and earth. They had witnessed such scenes more than once.

It had simply been a war between gods!

The terror of being dominated by Uchiha Madara's Susanoo was about to return.

A second Uchiha Madara had appeared among the Uchiha, but the Senju Clan had yet to produce a second Hashirama Senju.

Uchiha Nan's life could be divided into two parts, with Tobirama's Death as the dividing line.

But after Tobirama's Death, Uchiha Nan's conduct changed beyond all recognition.

It was downright insane.

However, Uchiha Nan had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, so such behavior became understandable.

But when exactly had Uchiha Nan changed?

If it had been before Tobirama's Death, then that would be terrifying.

An Uchiha who had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan long ago had kept up the pretense of inheriting the Will of Fire, deceiving Tobirama Senju. Only after Tobirama's Death did he reveal his true face.
