Background / History

Sakazuki began as a member of Zephyr's first batch of students alongside Victor and Borsalino. He shared a close association with Onigumo and Dogman, who followed his doctrine of absolute justice: the complete elimination of evil. 8 12

Two years of New World deployments sharpened his combat experience and forced him to learn patience. Though outwardly restrained, he became likened to a dormant volcano capable of erupting with destructive force. 9

Victor recruited Sakazuki into an alliance built around their common desire to purge the seas of pirates. Sakazuki accepted Victor's vision of “absolute justice” and joined his operations against the Golden Lion Pirates. 47 48

By the campaign against Golden Lion, Sakazuki had obtained the Magma-Magma Fruit. He later rose from Major General to Admiral through Victor's recommendation, then received a posting at Mary Geoise, where he encountered the Celestial Dragons' treatment of slaves. 48 83 125

Despite Victor's failure to become Fleet Admiral, Sakazuki openly reaffirmed his loyalty to him and his opposition to Sengoku's methods. He considered Victor the only person capable of leading the Navy to eradicate evil at sea. 150
