History

Creation and early protection

Nuwa created the Human Race from Breath Soil and Three Lights Divine Water, naming them a race separate from demons, witches, and the Ten Thousand Races. Their creation brought down immeasurable merit and enabled Nuwa's ascension to Sagehood 100.

Humans were born on Buzhou Mountain but were too frail to survive there; even the aftermath of a Golden Immortal battle could destroy them. Nuwa transferred the entire race to the East Sea Coast and declared that no being could attack them for three thousand years 101.

Initially, the Ten Thousand Races dismissed humanity as weak and insignificant. Long Zang instead recognized that their birth had directly caused a Sage to emerge, marking them as a race of extraordinary fortune and a future protagonist of the Great Desolation 102.

Rapid growth

Humanity began with only a few hundred thousand people. Within thousands of years, its population exceeded one hundred million; after hundreds of thousands of years, it surpassed one hundred billion and occupied the East Sea Coast before expanding outward 112.

The Three Ancestors established the earliest foundations of human civilization:

• Suirenshi — ignited the Fire of Inheritance, bringing light into human life. 119
• Youchaoshi — created dwellings to shelter humanity from the elements. 119
• Ziyishi — created clothing, protecting humans from cold and teaching propriety. 119

The Kongtong Seal, a supreme treasure embodying the Human Race's fortune, emerged at Kongtong Mountain as humanity's strength and population rose 112.

Human Race Calamity

Di Jun authorized a calamity against the Human Race, and Kunpeng led the Demon Race in a large-scale massacre. The Three Ancestors guided surviving humans toward Wuzhuang Temple, where Zhenyuanzi sheltered them behind the Earth Vein Grand Formation 133.

The Demon Race slaughtered trillions of humans and used their wraiths, along with divine gold and essence blood, to forge the Witch-Slaying Sword 136. In response, Suirenshi, Youchaoshi, and Ziyishi swore that humanity would never coexist with the demons and that demon-slaying would be the duty of their descendants 134.

After the calamity, Laozi decreed that no race could attack the Human Race for thirty thousand years 135. Humanity turned toward self-reliance, expanding Martial Dao training and continuing Human-Witch intermarriage to build an independent foundation 136.

Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors

The Three Sovereigns represented the emergence of the Humanity Dao:

• Fuxi became the Heavenly Sovereign after spreading the Innate Eight Trigrams among humanity. 153
• Shennong succeeded Fuxi and advanced human life through medicinal herbs and grains. 156 157
• Xuanyuan became the Human Sovereign after defeating Chi You and ascending the Human Emperor's throne. 161

The Three Sovereigns were symbols of the Humanity Dao, but the Dao itself was defined as all of humanity rather than any single ruler 161. The Five Emperors—Zhuanxu, Diku, Yao, Shun, and Yu—continued human development, with Yu founding the Xia Dynasty and beginning the transition from tribes to dynastic rule 157.

Cangjie created three thousand human characters, allowing humanity to preserve its history and civilization. The merit of this act elevated him from Golden Immortal to Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal in a single day 160.

End of the Human Emperor

The Human Emperor's authority was sustained by the fortune of the Humanity Dao and, within the Human Race, exceeded the influence of distant Sages. Other Sages and great powers therefore sought the end of the Human Emperor's line so they could more easily influence humanity 166.

Di Xin was the final Human Emperor. After his death, rulers adopted the lesser title of Son of Heaven, and the Human Race lost a layer of its fortune 148 154. Although Ying Zheng later unified the humans of the Eastern Region under Great Qin, he could not reclaim the abolished Human Emperor throne 205 246.

Traits & Cultivation

Frail beginnings and fertility

Humans are born without the strong bodies, innate divine abilities, or racial inheritances common among other Primordial races 101 123.

• Human pregnancy lasts only ten months, enabling population growth unmatched by other Great Desolation races. 101 104
• Their frailty made demonic beasts a greater early threat than intelligent races, which generally feared offending Nuwa. 112
• Humans are described as being born with the Pangu Dao Body despite their weak initial state. 122

Universal cultivation aptitude

Humans possess no fixed innate inheritance, making them unusually adaptable rather than restricted by bloodline or racial path 104 123.

• They can cultivate Immortal Dao, Martial Dao, Buddha Dao, Demon Race methods, and other Dao lineages. 123
