Background and History

The Witch Clan arose in the Netherworld from primordial turbid energy, which is poisonous to ordinary immortals and spirits but can be absorbed by Witches under Pangu's protection. Their creation serves both as an extension of Pangu's bloodline and as a means of stabilizing the Great Desolation's turbid energy. 1

Unlike other races, Witches cultivate their bodies rather than Primordial Spirits. Pangu's bloodline left them the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique, but it cannot independently carry them beyond Great Luo; advancement beyond that point requires forging an individual path. 1

The Twelve Ancestral Witches formally descend at Buzhou Mountain, recognize Long Zang as their Elder Brother, and use their essence blood in Pangu's Blood Pool to create the Second Generation Witch Clan. 67 68

The clan initially grows through the Blood Pool and natural gestation. Its population exceeds one hundred million pure-blooded Witches by the time Long Zang visits its tribe, though the Blood Pool is gradually exhausting its power. 77

Intermarriage with the Human Race later expands the Witch Clan past ten billion members. Human-Witch hybrids become an important source of future talent because they can cultivate Martial Dao and possess greater potential than most pure-blooded Great Witches. 102 128 129

Second Generation Witches Pure-blooded descendants nurtured through Pangu's Blood Pool using the Ancestral Witches' essence blood. 68
Human-Witch hybrids Descendants of Human–Witch unions; they can cultivate Martial Dao and have produced Da Luo-level members comparable to Great Witches. 104 128 129
New-generation Witches Pure-blooded Witches raised in the clan's Small World after the Witch-Demon era; millions later deploy to the Outer Heaven Battlefield. 296 299

Temperament and Doctrine

The Witch Clan is inherently fierce, volatile, and strongly inclined toward battle. Its members are described as a race of born warriors whose love of combat surpasses even the Ferocious Beast Clan's. 1 303

Long Zang deliberately tempers this nature with a practical doctrine: do not actively provoke conflicts, investigate an opponent's background before acting, avoid unnecessary Karma, and retaliate decisively when attacked. 70 78

The clan abandons its early desire to conquer the Primordial World after Long Zang shows the Twelve Ancestral Witches the downfall of earlier hegemonic races through the River of Time. They instead adopt the view that they need not seek rulership to stand as an overlord of their era. 77 78

“The Witch Clan does not need to become the Lord of the Primordial World. The Witch Clan itself is the overlord of the Primordial World.” 78

Abilities & Skills

Turbid Qi Adaptation

The Witch Clan can absorb primordial turbid energy, an environment lethal to most races, and use it to strengthen their bodies.

  • Their existence helps stabilize the Netherworld and the Great Desolation by absorbing Innate Turbid Qi. 1 70
  • Turbid Qi remains a supplement rather than a hazard within the Witch Clan Small World. 266
  • Their bodies are considered among the strongest in the Primordial World. 1 70

Physical Cultivation

Witches follow Pangu's body-refining path rather than the mainstream Primordial Spirit route.

  • The Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique is their inherited foundational body-refining method. 1
  • Their fleshly bodies can bear the Great Dao, enabling the Supreme Expert path. 92
  • Their cultivation is resource-intensive; body cultivation, Martial Dao, and the Great Dao Undying Body all require immense resources. 128

Great Dao Undying Body

A technique developed for the Witch Clan to address its vulnerability to soul-targeting attacks.

  • It fuses a Witch's soul with their fleshly body rather than granting an independent Primordial Spirit. 94
  • It protects against attacks such as the Witch-Slaying Sword's resentment-based assault so long as the body remains intact. 94
  • If the physical body is shattered, the soul and true fate perish with it, leaving almost no possibility of reincarnation. 1 94
  • Only a handful of Witches are qualified to cultivate this path. 315

Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Great Formation

The Twelve Ancestral Witches' strongest collective formation.

  • It can summon Pangu's phantom for overwhelming combat power. 72
  • It was used in their covert ambush of Di Jun and Tai Yi. 71 72
  • The formation blocks heavenly secrets, preventing even Sages from deducing the attackers' identities. 71 72

Additional Cultivation Paths

Long Zang provides further systems to prevent the clan's future from relying solely on its original bloodline hierarchy.

  • Martial Dao — usable by Human-Witch hybrids and broadly available to Witch Clan members, though not every Witch is suited to it. 128 315
  • Ancestral God Path — suited to Human-Witch hybrids. 315
  • Stone Man Path — suited to lower-ranking pure-blooded Witches. 315

Weaknesses

  • Witches are born without Primordial Spirits and cannot normally cultivate them. 1 92 315
  • Their bodies and souls are inseparable; destruction of the body is complete death. 1 94
  • Pure-blooded Witches are heavily restricted by the quality of their innate bloodline, especially below the Ancestral Witch and Great Witch levels. 104 105 128
  • The strongest bloodlines reproduce slowly, while Pangu's Blood Pool is gradually exhausting its ability to nurture new members. 77
  • The Twelve Ancestral Witches can reach Sublime Saint but are stated to have no realistic path to Hunyuan due to the clan's limited fortune. 128

Relationships

  • Pangu — Progenitor; the Witch Clan is the direct continuation of his bloodline and inherits both his legacy and creation Merit. 1 70
  • Long Zang — First Ancestor Witch and Elder Brother; he trains the Twelve Ancestral Witches, directs the clan's strategy, and protects it from Sage-level schemes. 67 70 78 126
  • Twelve Ancestral Witches — Founding leaders and principal combat force; they obey Long Zang's teachings while retaining their collective warlike nature. 67 70 71
  • Human Race — Equal partners rather than vassals; the Witch Clan protects and intermingles with humanity, producing high-potential Human-Witch hybrids. 102 104 129 303
  • Demon Race — Principal rival; escalating resource competition and mutual hostility lead to the Witch-Demon conflict. 92 125 128 140
  • Titans — Vassal race in the Western Fantasy Great World, chosen for their humanoid form and powerful physiques. 303
  • Netherworld — Houtu/Pingxin establishes the Six Paths of Reincarnation there; the Witch Clan receives the positions of the Ten Halls of Yama. 139

Story Role / Major Arcs

Emergence and Demon Race Conflict

The Twelve Ancestral Witches emerge at Buzhou Mountain and quickly become a major force in the Great Desolation. They secretly ambush Di Jun and Tai Yi through their grand formation, then openly repel the Demon Race's first campaign after demonstrating the power of twelve Supreme Experts. Hongjun ultimately intervenes to impose a truce. 67 71 72 92 93

Human–Witch Alliance

Following Long Zang's direction, the Witch Clan begins protecting the Human Race and intermarrying with them without attempting enslavement. Houtu and Xuanming oversee the relationship and discover the exceptional potential of Human-Witch hybrids. 102 104 129

Witch-Demon Great Tribulation

As competition for resources intensifies, the Witch Clan refuses to strike first in order to avoid excessive Karma. After Houtu becomes Pingxin and establishes the Netherworld, Di Jun launches a full-scale assault against the clan, seeking to consume its fortune and strengthen the Demon Race. 128 139 140 141

After the war's impact subsides, part of the clan recuperates near the East Sea Coast alongside humanity, while Xing Tian, Jiu Feng, and other promising Witches enter the Underworld to earn Merit. 143

Outer Heaven Battlefield and Expansion

With eleven Sublime Saints guarding and reinforcing the Witch Clan Small World, Long Zang permits all members below the Sublime Saint realm to join the World War. Millions of Golden Immortal Witches later campaign against the Abyss, displaying the clan's accumulated strength to later generations. 266 296 299

During its expansion into the Western Fantasy Great World, the Witch Clan takes the Titans as vassals while maintaining that the Human Race remains an equal partner rather than a subordinate race. 303
