Phoenix Clan leader

Yuan Huang was already the Phoenix Clan's leader during the Ferocious Beast era. The Phoenix Clan revered the title Huang as supreme: Feng denoted male phoenixes and Huang female phoenixes. 3

When a Ferocious Beast King attacked the Southern Region, Yuan Huang defeated it overwhelmingly. Rather than kill it, she allowed it to retreat, correctly judging that its death would invite the Ferocious Beast royal family's full retaliation against the Phoenix Clan. 4

She invited the wandering Long Zang into the Phoenix Clan's secret realm, where the two discussed the Ferocious Beast threat. Yuan Huang embraced his proposal to unite the Phoenix, Dragon, and Kirin Clans against their common enemy. 4

Alliance against the Ferocious Beasts

Yuan Huang secretly allied with Ancestor Dragon and First Kirin, establishing the foundation of the Three Innate Races' resistance against the Ferocious Beast Clan. 5

During Shen Ni's assault on the Southern Region, she wielded the True Phoenix Sword and True Phoenix Flame against the Ferocious Beast Emperor's God-Slaying Spear. Their clash ended without a victor after Shen Ni recognized that confronting both Yuan Huang and Long Zang would be untenable. 12 13

Long Zang's warnings later changed Yuan Huang's ambitions. She realized that exterminating the Ferocious Beast Clan and pursuing Primordial unification would only begin another cycle of conquest, Karma, and war among the Three Clans. 17 She subsequently chose to prioritize defending the Southern Region over launching a destructive offensive. 18

Phoenix Clan supremacy and war

After the Ferocious Beast Clan's decline, Yuan Huang formally established the Phoenix Clan and claimed authority over all flying beings, becoming one of the Primordial World's acknowledged Supreme Experts. 21

Her caution did not prevent future conflict. The Heavenly Dao Alliance, Yin Yang Divine Dynasty, and Qian Kun Divine Dynasty eventually attacked the Phoenix Clan together. Yuan Huang initially refused Long Zang's immediate aid and confronted the Three Heavens herself with sword and flame. 32 Long Zang ultimately intervened when the battle escalated beyond her ability to resolve alone. 33

The Dragon and Kirin Clans later turned on the Phoenix Clan, fearing its two-Sublime-Saint foundation. Yuan Huang faced First Kirin in the Outer Heaven Battlefield while Shen Ni arrived to assist the Phoenix side against Ancestor Qian Kun. 37 Her later duel with First Kirin ended in a stalemate. 39

Luohu eventually manipulated the Dragon and Kirin Clans into attacking the Phoenix Clan again. Yuan Huang was held back by Yellow Heaven until Cyan Heaven disrupted the Eye of Heavenly Punishment, allowing her sword to pierce Yellow Heaven's body and divine soul. 53 54 With Cyan Heaven's assistance, she killed Yellow Heaven and ended the Southern Battlefield conflict without further large-scale slaughter, avoiding needless Karma for the Phoenix Clan. 55

Ascension to Hunyuan

The Phoenix Clan's resistance against the Ferocious Beasts and Demonic Cult, as well as its continued suppression of the Immortal Volcano, accumulated great Merit for Yuan Huang's breakthrough. 81 She also drew upon the Phoenix Clan's fortune, which materially aided her path to Hunyuan. 112

Long Zang accelerated her cultivation by providing the Lights of Eternity, Origin, and Creation and arranging an Ancient Realm where billions of years could pass. 84 Yuan Huang then entered Chaos, cleaved through the Great Dao Lightning Tribulation, and emerged as a Hunyuan existence. 84 86

Her responsibility toward her people remains her defining restraint. She abandoned her ambition to unify the Primordial World because she understood that a clan leader could not become an impartial Spokesperson of the Heavenly Dao or pursue hegemony without endangering the Phoenix Clan. 17

Despite her composure, Yuan Huang is fiercely defiant when her clan is threatened. She rejected pressure from the Three Heavens, confronted First Kirin directly, and refused to allow the Dragon and Kirin Clans to invade the Southern Region unopposed. 30 32 37
