Tongtian presided over the Jie Sect's teachings from Upper Clarity Peak on Mount Kunlun. His early sermon covered cultivation below Grand Unity, presenting methods through the Heavenly Immortal and Grand Unity realms alongside defensive arts, lightning methods, formations, artifact refinement, and the Void Clarity Sword Dao. He guided Xuan Yin's Spiritual Light into worlds through his own 108,000 Worlds, allowing Xuan Yin's Other-Self Incarnations to return their accumulated insights. 3

As a teacher, Tongtian personally assessed his disciples' origins and temperaments before assigning suitable protective treasures. He bestowed Duobao Pagoda upon Duobao Daoist, the Four Symbols Pagoda upon Golden Spirit Holy Mother, Fate Cutting Saber upon Saint Mother Wu Dang, and other corresponding treasures upon Gui Ling, Zhao Gongming, and San Xiao. 4

Tongtian supported Xuan Yin's attempts to alter established fate, including his rise as Buzhou Mountain God. The possibility that Buzhou Mountain might avoid its destined collapse convinced Tongtian that the Jie Sect, too, could possess a chance to escape its traditional fate. 51 60

When the Three Pure Ones divided their household, Tongtian refused to surrender Mount Kunlun without compensation. He accepted a Chaos Gourd from Primordial Heavenly Venerate and forced the division of the Heaven and Earth Mysterious Yellow Exquisite Pagoda into three separate merit pagodas before relocating the Jie Sect to Golden Ao Island. 97 98

Later, he opened the source code of the Acquired Great Dao to the Primordial True Realm, spreading cultivation methods beyond the confines of his sect. As variables proliferated throughout the world, Tongtian's authority within the Heavenly Dao increased beyond that of Taishang Laojun and Primordial Heavenly Venerate. 194 196

Tongtian advocates leaving a thread of survival for all living beings. He teaches broadly but does not wish to dictate his disciples' paths, stating that each person must seize their own opportunity rather than remain constrained by their teacher. 46 83

He is protective of his disciples without being blindly indulgent. Tongtian retrieves Xuan Yin from danger, provides him with treasures and safeguards, and permits him to determine his own response to Luohu's inheritance.
