Background / History

Tang San's past is exposed as originating in the Tang Sect, where he stole the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record before being reborn as Tang Wu's son. His cultivation methods are later described as stolen from or adapted from others rather than self-created. 93

During his time in the City of Slaughter, Tang San used the identity Tang Yin. He and Hu Liena cooperated to complete the Hell Road challenge, though Hu Liena did not know his true identity. 73

The Heavenly Curtain exposes a future in which Tang San seeks to resurrect Xiao Wu. His plan involves becoming a Titled Douluo, finding the Ten Thousand Year Ginseng King, and giving Xiao Wu all nine of his Soul Rings. 26

Personality

Tang San is intensely ambitious and reacts bitterly when others receive recognition or power that he believes should be available to all beings. After Zhongli again ranks on the Sky Screen, Tang San angrily complains that Zhongli should leave resources for others and resents that his own listing damaged his reputation. 44

He is also stubborn and prone to fixation; Yu Xiaogang believes Tang San may fall into despair if he is not given hope. 25 Even after public revelations of his future actions, Tang San remains defiant and unrepentant. 132

Heavenly Curtain Revelations

Tang San becomes a recurring subject of the Heavenly Curtain's disclosures. The screen first shows his future Soul Ring distribution and his intention to sacrifice his nine Soul Rings to restore Xiao Wu. The exposure also reveals Xiao Wu's Soul Beast identity, placing her in danger. 26

A Ten Thousand Year Soul Bone is subsequently given to Tang San as compensation for the exposure of his future and Xiao Wu's identity. 29

Conflict with Huo Yuhao

The Sky Screen reveals a future conflict in which Tang San uses his daughter's soul against Huo Yuhao, horrifying Xiao Wu and Tang Hao. 36 Huo Yuhao later defeats Tang Hao, threatens Tang San, and takes Xiao Wu away. 48

Huo Yuhao kills Tang San, Tang Hao, and Ah Yin, fearing that a Sky Screen reward could restore them. The reward does resurrect all three. 55 57 Later, Huo Yuhao attacks Tang San again and splits him apart before he can receive another reward. 95

Sea God and the Ten Thousand Year Plan

The Sky Screen identifies Tang San as the future Sea God and alleges that he guides an Abyssal Monster invasion toward Douluo Star. 54 Further revelations show Tang San and Tang Hao absorbing the planet's plane consciousness, making Tang Hao the Lord of the Douluo Plane and Ah Yin the Golden Ancient Tree. 57

Tang San's stated plan uses the Abyssal invasion to manufacture threats for Tang Wulin to overcome, thereby establishing him as a savior. 57

Persecution and Imprisonment

Martial Soul Hall decides to eliminate Tang San, Tang Hao, and Ah Yin because of their enmity and perceived threat. 54 Tang San and Tang Hao are eventually captured, crippled, and restrained to prevent escape; Tang San remains defiant when Qian Renxue threatens further humiliation. 89
