Background / History

The Ruinous Dragon King is a second-generation Geo Dragon King, a being formed from elemental crystals who bears the strength and memories of the earth. His lifespan is stated to be comparable to mountains and seas. He fought beside Morax for the longest time among Morax's companions, helping protect Liyue alongside the Yakshas, Adepti, and Guizhong. 18 23

Over time, Erosion stripped away his memories and twisted his nature. Though he came to rage at humanity and the disturbance of the Ley Lines caused by mining at The Chasm, he continued to avoid harming the miners there, retaining an unconscious attachment to the people of Liyue. 23

Morax tried to remind him of their shared past and persuade him to return, but the Dragon King rejected him as the “god of ants” and declared his intent to destroy Liyue and humanity. Their battle shattered the surrounding land into The Chasm. In a fleeting return of clarity, the Dragon King ceased resisting; Morax defeated and sealed him rather than killing him. 23 24

The Heavenly Curtain later transported him to Douluo Star. He initially arrived enraged and disoriented, but recognizing Morax allowed him to recover his composure. Zhongli explains that this world no longer permits Erosion to erase his memories. 33 34

Appearance

In his true form, the Ruinous Dragon King is a colossal earth dragon whose body is described as mountain-like and so immense that observers cannot discern its full size. In human form, he resembles Morax closely. 23 34 44

Despite his periods of madness, the Ruinous Dragon King is deeply loyal to Morax and Liyue. He regards Morax as an old friend and brother, remembers their shared struggles, and recognizes that Morax bears an excessive burden for Liyue. 34 39 44

He is blunt, proud, and contemptuous toward those he considers weak. He dismisses Di Tian and the God Realm's representatives as ants, yet he is also perceptive enough to question Morax's concealed strength, suspicious foreknowledge, and altered history. 34 61 63 104

His restored memories do not eliminate his tendency toward impatience. He openly criticizes Zhongli for hiding secrets and expresses frustration at Zhongli's slow progress with Guizhong. 67 88
