Twelve Gates of Martial Dao

The Martial Ancestor realm is reached only after a martial artist breaks all Twelve Gates of Golden Lock and Heavy Tower. The Twelve Stages are Kai, Xiu, Sheng, Du, Jing, Shang, Jing, Si, Yin, Yang, Di, and Tian; completing the Heaven Gate allows an attempt at the Martial Ancestor breakthrough 11 55.

The first three gates are attainable through perseverance and a suitable cultivation method, while the Du Gate allows the cultivation of inner breath. Inner force develops after the Shang Gate and reaches its peak after the Simen 65.

Even martial artists who reach Twelve Gates Great Perfection may never find the opportunity to cross into Martial Ancestor 69.

Origin Power

A successful breakthrough replaces ordinary internal force and true qi with Martial Dao Origin Power. This is regarded as the point at which a martial artist genuinely begins the cultivation path and can stand alongside Spirit Scholars and Alchemists 55.

Origin Power can be projected beyond the body and shaped into attacks or defenses. Martial Ancestors have used it as externalized claws, shields, weapon-like manifestations, and other formed techniques 75 196.

Through Meridian

The first Martial Ancestor stage is the Gathering Origin Realm. Beyond it lies Through Meridian, in which Origin Power refines Spirit Meridians rather than ordinary meridians 167.

• Each opened Spirit Meridian grants one Yuan of Power, roughly equal to the full strength of a newly promoted Martial Ancestor 167.
• The number of Spirit Meridians available depends on the cultivation method; the Heaven and Earth Giant Spirit Art can refine eight 167.
• A Spirit Meridian can resist or shatter weaker spirit techniques, though this protection is not absolute against stronger Spirit Scholars 185.
• Nine-Meridian Martial Ancestors stand at the peak of Through Meridian and are one step away from condensing a Martial Dao Saint Body 373.

Origin Power is the defining power of a Martial Ancestor, vastly surpassing the internal energy used throughout the Twelve Gates.

• Allows Martial Ancestors to contend with cultivators who use spiritual arts, though their effectiveness depends on realm and technique 55 185.

Spirit Meridian Refinement

Through Meridian Martial Ancestors use Origin Power to form Spirit Meridians and increase their martial foundation.

• Each meridian adds one Yuan of Power 167.
• Higher-meridian Martial Ancestors possess stronger resistance to spirit techniques 185.
• Cultivation methods with more potential Spirit Meridians offer a greater long-term foundation 167.
• Condensing a Saint Body requires more than simply opening a ninth meridian; it is a qualitative transformation 378.

Technique-Dependent Combat Power

Martial Ancestors are not equal in strength merely because they share the same realm. Cultivation methods, secret techniques, combat experience, and physical refinement can create major differences between practitioners 114 167 385.

• The Heaven and Earth Giant Spirit Art grants Giant Spirit Power, allowing a newly advanced Martial Ancestor to possess double an ordinary practitioner’s strength 167.
• The Giant Eagle Iron Body Art combines Giant Spirit Power, enhanced defense, poison resistance, recovery, cold resistance, and Spirit Meridian refinement 185.
• The Hundred Poisons Refined Golden Body can increase physical strength independently of realm; its Tenth Refinement grants five additional Yuan of bodily power 198.

Standing in the Martial World

A Martial Ancestor is a regional power capable of founding a sect, occupying a commandery, or stabilizing a major faction. In You Mountain Prefecture, Fang Yuan’s breakthrough is treated as sufficient to establish a sect and command a major power 113.

Even an unaffiliated Martial Ancestor commands immediate political attention. Liu Yan, the You Mountain Prefecture Lord, makes time to receive Fang Yuan solely because of his Martial Ancestor status 118.

The Tiger Ranking records Martial Ancestors with at least Through Meridian cultivation, while entry to the higher Dragon Ranking requires Through Meridian Great Perfection and a condensed Saint Body 253.
