Background
Dream Masters cultivate through dreams, using spirit and consciousness to influence matter and reality. Their central pursuit is to master a Dream Realm so completely that illusion can be transformed into reality. The Heart-Questioning Hermit described them as the continent’s supreme profession, superior in scope to Spirit Scholars, formations, and alchemy. 78
Early cultivation follows four steps: entering a dream, awakening the true self, modifying the dreamscape, and achieving mastery. Beginners are initially weak in direct combat and must first cultivate within their own dreams, where injury is safer than in another being’s Dream Realm. 80 106
A fully developed Dream Master can create complete dream worlds, living beings, environments, and histories. However, such authority is initially confined to dreams; Manifestation requires constructing dream rules that closely mirror reality. 106 108
Great Gan Dream Master Community
The Dream Realm is a public gathering and trading space created within the dream of the primordial beast Kun. Dream Masters use it to receive identity tokens, trade information and items, buy cultivation records, and accept exploration tasks. 229 232
The Realm Spirit—formed from Kun’s modified subconscious—administers tasks and transactions, acting as a neutral guarantor for Dream Masters operating in the Dream Realm. 235
Connection to the Inner Demon Realm
Dream Master scholars theorized that Dream Origin Power came not from the local world, but from a higher-dimensional origin later called the Dream Master Realm. This source was believed to sustain the Manifestation abilities of Virtual Saints. 232
The supposed Dream Master Realm was eventually identified as the Inner Demon Realm, a higher-dimensional world that radiates pure Dream Origin Power. Great Gan’s Dream Master system developed from this foreign power into its own distinctive path of “cultivating reality through illusion.” 462 471 766
When the World Gate to the Inner Demon Realm opened, an unknown entity announced that it had “taken” the Dream Masters’ path. Dream Masters lost key abilities including Manifestation, Spirit Awakening, dream entry, and dream travel. 487 497
Abilities & Skills
Dream-Realm Sovereignty
A Dream Master is the absolute ruler within their own mastered Dream Realm. They can reshape landscapes, create worlds and beings, erase creations, and alter their own dream body at will. 108
- Dream time commonly flows much faster than real time, allowing decades or longer to pass during a short period of sleep. 80 108
- The closer a Dream Realm’s rules are to reality, the closer its time flow approaches a one-to-one ratio. 109
- A sufficiently realistic dream body can reproduce a practitioner’s real martial techniques with near-perfect accuracy. 108
- Dream cultivation is highly effective for deducing, testing, and refining techniques before applying them in reality. 108 179
Dream Ingress and Dream Weaving
Dream Ingress Masters enter the dreams of other sentient beings. Dream Weaver Masters go further by rewriting dream events, creating false experiences, and gradually influencing the target’s memories and behavior. 109 131
- Dream Ingress can target any being with thought and consciousness. 131
- Repeated dream hypnosis can confuse or overwrite a target’s recollections, especially when the target has a simple mind. 131
- Dream Weavers can forge dream realms and remain dominant even inside another being’s dream. 132
- Strong subconscious resistance can cause backlash and severely endanger the intruder. 109
Manifestation
Virtual Saints can use Dream Origin Power to bridge illusion and reality. The easiest manifestations are spiritual techniques and energy; physical objects require greater understanding and living beings are the most difficult to create. 157 221
- Manifested spiritual techniques can match techniques witnessed in reality. 221
- Manifesting mundane objects is easier than manifesting spiritual items, living creatures, or sentient beings. 157
- Manifestation consumes Dream Origin Power and can be severely restricted by a world’s rules. 221 238
- At the Creator stage, a Manifestation Saint can create races, establish civilizations, and develop a complete manifested Dream Realm. 487 760
Dream Traveling Through Myriad Worlds
Dream Masters can send a fragment of their True Spirit into other worlds, usually through possession rather than physical travel. Their original body remains behind while the projected spirit seeks a suitable host. 238 551 909
- Dream travel enables exploration of worlds with unfamiliar power systems and valuable resources. 235 390
- A possessed body generally begins weak, even when the Dream Master’s true self is powerful. 238
- Local world rules can suppress Dream Master abilities and delay awakening of the true self. 165 390 666
- Repeated exposure to foreign memories risks personality contamination or the formation of a separate identity. 166
Specialized Paths
After becoming Virtual Saints, Dream Masters typically focus on a single branch to interpret reality through a particular set of rules. Multiple branches can be cultivated, but doing so requires vastly more time and talent. 232
- Dream Soldiers Masters — Forge Divine Weapons in the True Dream Realm and manifest them in battle; Fang Yuan’s inherited Eight Gates Sword Array is one such path. 232
- Dream Weavers — Construct and manifest spiritual techniques, particularly illusionary arts and formations. 157
- Dream Alchemists — Use manifested materials to refine pills and study alchemical principles. 132
- Dream Formation Masters — Create formations inside dreams and manifest them rapidly in reality. 132 232
- Dream Beast Masters — Manifest, summon, modify, or transform into beasts; high-level practitioners can summon entire beast armies. 232 351
- Dream Divination Masters — Study destiny and predict large-scale trends through divination. 132
- Dream Practitioners — Focus on broad dream arts and can create diverse laws and techniques with a single thought. 232
Limitations & Risks
- Loss of self — A Dream Master who becomes addicted to a dream or forgets to return may die in reality while their physical body wastes away. 108 175
- Dream backlash — Injury or death inside another being’s dream can inflict serious damage on the Dream Master’s Spirit Yuan. 80 109
- Memory assimilation — Long exposure to fabricated lives and memories can contaminate the true self or create a new personality. 166
- Reality is harder than illusion — Dream control alone does not grant real-world power; Manifestation requires understanding the laws of reality and consumes Dream Origin Power. 106 157
- Suppression by world rules — Other worlds may restrict Dream Master abilities, forcing practitioners to rebuild strength through local systems. 165 390 940
- Dependence on Dream Origin Power — Without available Dream Origin Power, powerful dream arts and manifestations become difficult or impossible to sustain. 368
- Inner Demon Realm influence — Pure Dream Origin Power can mutate, corrupt, or enslave those unable to control it. 465 472
Notable Practitioners
- Heart-Questioning Hermit — Fang Yuan’s master and the owner of the Dream Master Enlightenment Method; his remaining Spiritual Land demonstrates the scale of a powerful Dream Master’s creations. 78
- Fang Yuan — Progressed from Dream Disciple to Dream Weaver Master, Virtual Saint, Dream Soldier Master, and ultimately developed the Way of the Dream Master into the Creation Great Dao. 80 132 221 232 1131
- Elder Lian Huo — A Seventh Layer Virtual Saint whose sentient Fire Dragon Divine Weapons demonstrate the destructive potential of advanced Dream Soldier Masters. 283 309
- Liu Mengmei — A Virtual Saint Dream Master of the Liu Family who infiltrated Fang Yuan’s dreamscape through a True Spirit. 287 288
- Green Ghost — An evil-path Dream Master who uses the Green Ghost Mark to force targets through nightmare trials or turn them into avatars. 171
- Old Mother Tianshan — A powerful Dream Master involved in using younger Dream Masters to break the seals of Changli Dongtian. 290 292
