Chapter 138: The Battleship Killer
Kao was heading for the command deck to suggest that Kampa order a boarding action.
He wasn't suggesting they board a battleship. Throwing the entire Chapter into an enemy battleship would hardly accomplish anything, but boarding enemy ships armed with powerful weapons could turn the tide.
Kao arrived at the hatch just as Lu Jin emerged from the deck.
"Chapter Master?"
"Huron's aboard that battleship."
Lu Jin passed Kao and strode down the corridor without slowing.
Kao realized the Chapter Master intended to behead Huron. A mission that dangerous would be suicide for anyone but him.
"Chapter Master."
Lu Jin stopped only when Kao called to him again, then turned to look at his first company captain.
"I have a gift for you," Kao said. "At the stern."
Lu Jin understood. He smiled, then turned and left.
"Manros, take me to the stern."
As soon as the order reached the Librarian, a portal opened before Lu Jin.
He stepped through and arrived at the stern.
A hatch lay in the middle of the vast engine-room floor.
As Lu Jin approached, it opened, revealing a passage sloping downward and the loading chamber of an artillery weapon.
Lu Jin had loaded a Nova Cannon before and recognized it at once, though the weapon had been modified.
He walked down the passage and entered the weapon's loading chamber.
The hatch behind him and the chamber's sealing mechanism closed at the same time.
Lu Jin faced forward. He spotted the control panel, went over, and fiddled with it until he figured out how to operate the weapon.
Gripping the control handles, he adjusted the barrel's angle and aimed at a battleship in the enemy fleet.
A holographic display appeared, highlighting the battleship in red and showing a three-dimensional model.
