Background / History

Lin Dong first encounters Cang Wu, the remnant soul of the Lord of Devourment, through the Ancestral Stone. Though initially overwhelmed by the gap between himself and ancient experts, he actively seeks knowledge and accepts Cang Wu’s guidance. Cang Wu comes to regard him as a possible successor of the Devouring lineage. 3 6 7

To temper his Spiritual Power, Lin Dong repeatedly subjects his spirit to the Spirit Grinding Mill. The process is agonizing—his spirit is crushed and reformed—but he persists, studying markings left on the mill between sessions. 7 8

When the Blood Robe Sect attacks Qingyang Town, Lin Dong confronts its master, Wei Tong. Cang Wu temporarily controls his body and uses Devouring Power to drain Wei Tong’s Primal Energy, while teaching Lin Dong to disrupt an opponent’s energy, force close combat, and exploit openings. Lin Dong credits a “mysterious senior” for his victory to conceal Cang Wu’s identity. 9 11 12
