Background / History
Lu Chen was originally a devoted reader of Primordial Era before transmigrating into the Primordial Era as a black brick during Pangu's Sky-Opening Calamity. He took a fragment from Pangu's Sky-Opening Axe and absorbed a wisp of Sky-Opening Merit, allowing the brick to develop sentience and eventually transform. 1 2
His human form emerged from a spiritual spring as a youthful man in a black robe, already possessing Early True Immortal cultivation. Soon afterward, he obtained a jade slip map that recorded major locations, restrictions, and treasure sites across the Primordial Era. 2
Rather than seek open confrontation, Lu Chen built his foundation by exploiting the Three Clans' decline. He acquired the Qiankun Diagram, Three Lights Divine Water, the Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner, Dragon Clan and Kirin Clan tokens, bloodline remnants, and information on the Three Clans' treasure vaults. 4 6
Appearance
After transforming, Lu Chen appears as a young man around seventeen or eighteen years old, with fair skin, slender hands, and eyes whose weariness contrasts with his youthful face. The merit that reshaped him formed a simple black robe around his body. 2
- Often carries or fights with a dark brick-shaped lifebound treasure. 17 34
- His body developed Chaos patterns after refining Chaos Blood Essence. 24
- When revealing his true identity late in the story, he appears as a young man with a gray brick resting on his shoulder and a roguish smile. 134
Personality
Lu Chen is opportunistic, pragmatic, and exceptionally willing to exploit information gaps. He looted Treasure Distribution Cliff before others could reach it, left replicas in place, and used the Black Brick to incapacitate Jieyin and Zhunti when they became obstacles. 14
He favors deception, prepared escape routes, and indirect victories over frontal confrontation. When pursued by four Quasi-Saints over Hongyun's false Primordial Violet Qi, he staged a scheme that redirected their attention and turned the purified energy into a gain for himself and Hongyun. 12
Despite his calculating nature, Lu Chen repeatedly protects people he considers allies. He endangered himself to save Hongyun, sheltered and guided the Human Clan's future rulers, prepared the little Golden Crow's escape route, and ultimately entrusted the Brick Cult to Sun Wukong. 11 12 47 62 135
Freedom is central to his decisions. He refused Dao Ancestor Hongjun's offer to manage the Heavenly Dao, accepting only the Purple Cloud Token because he would not become bound by the Heavenly Dao's constraints. 135
