Li Dan suddenly felt a flicker of conscience. Art could still create a little surprise.
Am I being too harsh on him by treating him this way?
However, this thought was instantly cast aside when Sophie stumbled back.
Li Dan took the medicine and looked at it. It was indeed for treating mental illness.
Huh? There's also medicine for photosensitivity. That's great, give him that.
"Art, pry his mouth open."
Li Dan didn't dare to reach out carelessly, seeing the Evil Spirit's pitch-black maw. What if his hand got bitten off?
Art reached out and fumbled around with trembling hands. He finally found the mouth, but the Evil Spirit bit off his entire wrist along with it.
"Wuwuwu."
Art held up his severed, spurting hand to Li Dan, whimpering continuously. His expression was as if he were saying:
My hand, my hand!
"It's broken, so what? Just reattach it."
Li Dan pushed Art aside, poured all the medicine into the Evil Spirit's mouth, and then had the Bat Person cover the Evil Spirit's mouth.
The Evil Spirit, which had been in a brief state of dizziness, suddenly went mad.
It shook off the Bat Person pressing down on it and began to dart around wildly, as if it were about to mutate.
Seeing this, Li Dan silently shielded Art in front of him.
At the same time, a Ghost Card appeared in his hand.
"Detected Evil Spirit Diana."
"Status: About to shed skin."
Li Dan frowned upon seeing the status. What did feeding her two pills to shed her skin mean?
Logically, wasn't Diana just an Evil Spirit?
Unless this skin was about to be discarded.
"Damn, Bat Person, hold her down for me!"
Upon receiving the order, the Bat Person's Bat Wings spread out, filling the basement.
Sophie was so terrified by this sight that she fainted on the spot.
Li Dan had Art carry the delirious old woman upstairs first. Then, he released the Evil Spirit Wendigo to suppress the Evil Spirit's movements as much as possible.
"Oh right, Art, and your hand."
Li Dan didn't forget to pick up the severed hand and stuff it into Art's arms.
The living room upstairs.
Several people were trembling. Especially Rebecca's boyfriend, Brett, who seemed to have developed a high fever after being scratched by the Evil Spirit.
Coupled with the commotion from the basement, it was like World War II was breaking out.
Anyone would be scared in this situation.
Little Martin wanted to bravely go down and take a look, but the basement door was stuck as if it were held by magnets. There was no way a child like him could open it.
"Wuuah wuuah."
The long wail of police sirens was unusually conspicuous in the neighborhood.
Two police officers got out of their car.
The Black police officer stomped on the ground and asked uncertainly, "Milan, did it feel like an earthquake just now? Did you feel it?"
The White female officer rolled her eyes at him. "I think you've had too much to drink. Let's go deal with the caller's issue first."
The Black police officer thought it made sense and casually asked someone for directions to the caller's location, then knocked on the door.
The door opened.
It was a little boy.
The female officer bent down slightly and asked the little boy, "Hey, where are your family members? Why are you alone?"
Martin pointed inside the house. "They're injured inside. The exorcist is fighting a Demon in the basement."
The female officer and the Black officer exchanged glances, thinking the little boy had watched too much TV, what with the exorcist and Demon talk. The caller had mentioned a mentally disturbed woman.
Out of caution, the two still drew their weapons. In this chaotic country, the mortality rate for American Police officers on duty was too high.
Some seem harmless, but the next second they might pull out a gun and shoot.
Even experienced old police chiefs would draw their guns immediately.
Led by Little Martin.
Two police officers entered the house.
They equipped their pistols with flashlights, allowing them to barely see the situation in the living room.
A severely injured man lay in a woman's arms.
On the ground, an unconscious old woman.
And a man dressed as a clown hiding in a dark corner, seemingly assembling something.
"Hey, hands up!"
The Black police officer naturally assumed the clown, who looked ridiculous, was the murderer, especially since he was covered in blood.
The female officer didn't understand what was happening, but hearing her partner's warning, she instinctively raised her pistol and aimed it at the clown in the corner.
"Clatter."
Art watched the severed hand fall to the ground and slowly turned around, his eyes dark as he looked at the two police officers.
Rebecca quickly spoke up.
"No, the clown is innocent. He's the exorcist's assistant. The real lunatic is in the basement."
As if in response to Rebecca's explanation.
A strange cry came from the basement, drawing the attention of the two police officers.
They cautiously approached the basement, ready to investigate.
"Click."
The door suddenly opened from the inside.
If this were a usual scenario, the two police officers would have been dragged into the basement and killed.
But it was Li Dan who walked out.
The two highly tense police officers aimed their guns at Li Dan, but his face showed no panic. Facing the police officers' warnings.
Just as the Black police officer was shouting, he suddenly noticed a pair of black claws on the doorframe in the darkness behind Li Dan. They were definitely not human.
"Milan, on the doorframe!"
Milan looked up. "There's nothing there."
The Black police officer was sure he wasn't hallucinating.
"This is impossible."
"If you want to know, why don't you go in and see for yourself?"
Li Dan ignored the muzzles of the guns. After merging with the Undying Body, even a weakened version meant handguns couldn't cause him significant harm.
Unless someone came with a rocket launcher and fired, leaving him no chance to recover, he could recover from anything.
Of course, there were limits. It consumed stamina and his own energy. The Bat Person's Undying Body was fundamentally different from Jason's.
The two police officers exchanged glances, not foolish enough to rush in and see.
Li Dan walked up to Rebecca and comforted her.
"Your mom is fine, just scared unconscious. I'm taking Diana with me. Brett will be alright."
Rebecca still couldn't believe it.
"Is she really okay?"
"She's fine. I have some things to do, so I'll be going now." Li Dan patted Little Martin's head again and walked out the door.
Under their watchful eyes.
Under the glow of the police car lights outside, a faint black figure could be seen following Li Dan's receding form.
Having already contained the Evil Spirit, Li Dan wouldn't linger. Was he supposed to stay for dinner?
Forget it, no need to make it too sentimental.
But it was indeed close.
This Evil Spirit was unusually cunning, feigning death to trick him out of medicine. The skin was the key to the seal, and what was trapped inside was Diana's true form.
If the Evil Spirit had escaped its skin.
Li Dan estimated he would be the first target, or perhaps Sophie and Rebecca on the ground.
It was a bit like "Painted Skin," but this was more sinister.
The Evil Spirit was born using a believer's skin, killing Rebecca's father and employees.
But in the end, it was trapped by the skin.
A Ghost Card appeared in Li Dan's hand. Against a dark background, a doorframe stood, and a black Evil Spirit could be vaguely seen lurking in the darkness behind it.
