As Capsule Corporation's heiress and one of its core researchers, Bulma knew its main product lines inside out. Yet the refrigerator felt both familiar and strange.
"I'll have one too. Thanks, Gohan!" Krillin came over, took a drink from Gohan, and grinned.
He twisted off the cap, gulped down a mouthful, and sighed with satisfaction. Only then did he notice Bulma staring at the refrigerator.
Bulma opened her drink and took two distracted sips. The cool liquid slid down her throat, but it did little to ease her doubts.
Her gaze drifted from the refrigerator back to Trunks, who stood quietly to one side, looking a little awkward.
This time, she studied him more closely, as though trying to commit every detail of the boy to memory.
Trunks seemed to feel the weight of Bulma's piercing stare. He lowered his already bowed head, his cheeks coloring faintly. Unsure what to do with his hands or feet, he could only stand stiffly and let his mother look him over.
To him, the feeling was at once familiar and utterly strange, with an uneasy guilt he couldn't put into words.
"Strange..." Bulma sipped her drink and stared at Trunks's face, her frown deepening. "It's like... I've seen you somewhere. Why do you feel so familiar? Where was it?"
"Huh? N-no! We've never met! Definitely never!" Trunks jerked his head up like a startled cat and waved his hands in frantic denial. His voice rose, and his eyes darted everywhere but toward Bulma.
Gohan walked up to Trunks and looked up at him curiously. "How do you know about my dad?
"Do you know him?"
"I... I heard about him." Trunks steadied himself and forced himself to calm down. Facing Gohan's innocent, curious gaze, he managed a strained smile. "I haven't... met him
