Background / History

Aila began as a young Saiyan assigned to eradicate Planet Rhyner’s natives. After reverting from her Great Ape form, she questioned Rhode not over their dead teammate, but over whether he had completed the extermination mission. Rhode’s refusal to kill the remaining natives sharply conflicted with her Saiyan values. 2

When Frieza ordered Saiyan squads back to Planet Vegeta, Rhode offered Aila a choice: return and face death, or follow him and pursue the power of a Super Saiyan. She chose Rhode’s path, though she refused to accept his authority without a fight. 3

On Earth, Master Roshi taught Aila Ki cultivation, meditation, the Turtle School Ki Wave, and the Ten Thousand Nations Shocking Palm. Within three days, she stabilized and concealed her aura far better than before, recognizing how wasteful her former fighting style had been. 9

Aila trained alongside Rhode through gravity training, Time Chamber sessions, Planet Yardrat techniques, and repeated life-or-death battles. Her early fixation on raw power gradually developed into an independent path centered on defense, regeneration, and her Self-Evolution Technique. 19 62 65 108

After Rhode disappeared for five years, Aila maintained several of his routines: bringing fish to Karin, visiting Master Roshi, helping Goku and Chi-Chi train, and continuing to develop the Martial Arts Hall. She answered Namek’s call for aid against Saganbo in Rhode’s absence. 102 103

Appearance

Aila first appears as a young Saiyan girl in a battle suit. After training on Planet Yardrat and in the Time Chamber, she grows into a tall, well-proportioned woman with a heroic bearing and a softer feminine presence. 2 62

  • Cold, arrogant expression in her youth. 2
  • Tall but shorter than Rhode after reaching adulthood. 62
  • Heroic facial features and a composed, striking bearing. 62
  • Super Saiyan 3 form has long golden hair, no eyebrows, and sharp eyes. 147
  • Super Saiyan God form gives her red hair, red eyebrows and pupils, and a leaner physique. 188

Personality

Aila is proud, battle-hungry, and straightforward. In her early life, she embodies Saiyan indifference toward weaker people and fallen comrades, prioritizing strength and mission completion above sentiment. 2

Her greatest drive is surpassing Rhode. Repeated defeats anger her but also motivate disciplined training; over time, she learns to value aura control, technique, patience, and independent development rather than relying solely on greater Power Level. 4 19 65

Despite her harsh manner, Aila develops a restrained but genuine capacity for care. She plays with Bulma and Chi-Chi, worries about Goku’s weakness, preserves Rhode’s old routines during his absence, and becomes increasingly affectionate and open with Rhode. 26 76 102 112

Abilities & Skills

Saiyan Physiology

Aila possesses the natural combat potential of a Saiyan, including rapid growth through recovery and battle.

  • Her Power Level rises sharply after surviving near-death injuries. 16 65
  • She can transform into a Great Ape and later employ Great Ape Power in her normal state. 46 62
  • She progresses through Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan 4, and Super Saiyan God forms. 117 147 176 188

Ki Control and Martial Arts

Aila’s initially crude use of Ki becomes highly refined through Earthling martial arts training, gravity training, and Yardrat instruction.

  • Learned meditation, Ki cultivation, the Turtle School Ki Wave, and the Ten Thousand Nations Shocking Palm from Master Roshi. 9
  • Can suppress her visible Power Level below one hundred and later recognizes Rhode’s even greater feat of reducing his displayed level to three. 19 25
  • Uses Instant Transmission in combat and to escape Planet Vegeta’s destruction. 39 46
  • Her adult fighting style demonstrates precise power control, afterimages, and effective counters to surprise attacks. 62

Self-Evolution Technique

Aila’s signature self-created enhancement technique raises her power in response to fighting spirit.

  • Initially grants an amplification of more than double; stronger multipliers develop as her fighting spirit rises. 108
  • Produces a fivefold increase against Vegito, allowing her to temporarily overpower him. 177
  • Continues increasing her strength during combat rather than merely providing a fixed boost. 178
  • She later resolves to further develop it after learning it may have potential comparable to Ultra Instinct. 202

Defensive Shield Technique

Aila adapts Yardrat’s Shield Technique into miniature Ki shields that form at the exact point of impact.

  • Instantly concentrates her Ki to block attacks from stronger opponents. 108
  • Allows her to withstand Kugampo despite his substantial power advantage. 108
  • Requires exceptional timing and mental focus; a failure to form a shield in time leaves her vulnerable. 108

Restoration and Modified Physiology

Aila possesses exceptional recovery, which becomes stronger following bodily modification.

  • Rapidly heals injuries, including a broken arm during her battle with Kugampo. 108
  • Her modified body grants powerful stamina and regeneration, allowing her to recover quickly from repeated injuries. 117 146 178
  • Her sustained stamina gives her an advantage in prolonged fights, including against Time Patrol Goku. 275

Divine and Advanced Techniques

Aila later expands beyond conventional Saiyan transformations.

  • Initially comprehends Space-Time Power, focusing on resisting time-space effects rather than controlling them. 247
  • Studies Ultra Instinct and Self-Perfected Ultra Instinct alongside increasing her base strength. 247
  • Can sense disturbances caused by Time Stop and is advised to train resistance against temporal techniques. 162

Relationships

  • Rhode — Training partner, rival, guide, and eventual intimate partner. Their relationship grows from constant challenges and discipline into mutual support, affection, and shared cultivation. 3 62 112 146
  • Master Roshi — One of Aila’s first Earth teachers. She respects his instruction while expressing gratitude through a blunt, tsundere demeanor. 9
  • Bulma — Aila develops a sisterly bond with her, plays with her as a child, and later trains her strictly enough for Bulma to exceed a Power Level of one hundred. 26 102
  • Karin — Aila regularly brings him fish, continuing a routine Rhode once maintained. 102
  • Goku — Aila initially considers him exceptionally weak, but learns of his future potential; she later shows concern for him and gives him training pointers. 76 102
  • Chi-Chi — Aila unexpectedly plays with Chi-Chi and later helps guide her training. 76 102
  • Saganbo — A recurring opponent whom Aila deliberately keeps alive to use as a sparring partner while seeking a Super Saiyan breakthrough. 103
  • Vegeta — Aila openly dislikes him and considers his younger self weak, though she later acknowledges his talent after he attains Super Saiyan 2 independently. 111 294
  • Broly — Aila easily defeats him and later trains him through repeated combat. 255 256
