Power Progression

History

The Thunderclap Gang was already a dominant local power in Cangzhou when Lin Daozhi first encountered Zhao Huaian. At the time, ultimate authority rested with an ancestor at the peak Nascent Soul Realm, while Lin Haiwei held the position of Gang Leader. The ancestor retained the power to determine the succession, leaving Lin Daozhi's position as young master vulnerable to competing elders and relatives. 215 216

Lin Daozhi responded by building his own network of allies and taking control of profitable businesses and territories. This brought him into direct conflict with Sixth Elder Tang Jianfeng, whose faction seized much of Lin Daozhi's commercial and territorial holdings, including the Golden Mountain Mine Vein. 251 252 253

With Zhao Huaian's assistance, Lin Daozhi used the attack on the Golden Mountain Mine Vein and Tang Zhaohui's death to provoke Tang Jianfeng into acting openly. Tang Jianfeng's subsequent ambush failed; after his demise, the gang purged his followers and destroyed the Tang family's influence. Lin Daozhi reclaimed the Golden Mountain Mine Vein and acquired more than half of Tang Jianfeng's former resources and territories. 258 259 265 270

Lin Daozhi's position was later threatened by the destruction of the gang's Hundred Medicine Garden in Shanshui City and an ambush arranged by Blood Hand. The investigation identified Lin Hailong—Lin Haiwei's brother—as the mastermind, motivated by his desire to replace Lin Daozhi with his own son. Although the evidence trail was severed, Lin Daozhi's defeat of Blood Hand enhanced his reputation and attracted rogue cultivators and young talents to his side. 272 275 278

Three years after Lin Haiwei's breakthrough to Spirit Transmutation, the Lin Family strengthened itself through Lin Daozhi's marriage alliance with the Du Family of Shangfeng City. Lin Haiwei then executed a one-night coup against the Thunderclap Gang's ancestor, using poison, sorcery, hidden weapons, and prepared allies to destroy the ancestor's faction before personally killing the weakened elder. The gang thereafter became the Lin Family's personal power base. 303 304

Lin Daozhi employed Zhao Huaian to strike Tang Jianfeng's Golden Mountain Mine Vein, kill Tang Zhaohui, and create a situation that would draw Tang Jianfeng into an exposed act of revenge. The operation culminated in Tang Jianfeng's failed ambush and the collapse of his faction within the gang. 257 258 259 265 270

Shanshui City Investigation

After the Hundred Medicine Garden massacre, Lin Daozhi personally investigated the attack with Zhao Huaian. Their party was ambushed by Blood Hand and Liu Bohu, but Blood Hand's defeat ended the immediate threat and raised Lin Daozhi's standing in Cangzhou. 272 273 275 278

Black Water River Mission

The gang assigned Zhao Huaian, operating under Lin Daozhi's identity, authority over a team sent to investigate resource theft near the Black Water River. The mission brought the gang into contact with the Black Carp King, who feared provoking one of Cangzhou's top powers. 280 281 284

Jizhou Expansion

The gang allied with the Luofeng Alliance to establish influence in Jizhou. It joined Jizhou's major powers against Little Lotus Temple, intending to share in territory taken after the Buddhist sect's removal. 307 308 317

During the wider conflict, Lin Daozhi and Thunderclap Gang cultivators fought Little Lotus Temple and Qiuyue Sect forces at Purple Cloud Mountain and in the final battles of the campaign. 329 331 337
