Background / History

Tongtian leads the sect and describes its creed as teaching without discrimination while protecting the peace of all living beings. In recognition of Ying Zheng ending warfare through unification, Tongtian elevated Ying Zheng’s world, opened its path of cultivation, bestowed a cultivation method, and accepted him as a registered disciple. 87

In an alternate Investiture of the Gods world, Interception Sect was devastated by the tribulation: Yunxiao recalls fellow disciples either dying or being forced to answer the tribulation. These memories motivate her and her sisters to alter the familiar course of such worlds whenever possible. 349

The sect is not portrayed as uniformly virtuous. Tathagata identifies its mixture of good and bad members as a structural problem and urges Tongtian to remove its harmful elements before a future crisis emerges. 357

Negotiated Listing Terms

Liu Bing, acting under Tongtian’s identity, accepts the possibility of Interception Sect disciples being entered into the Investiture of the Gods, but imposes two conditions:

Heavenly Court Infiltration

Rather than treating divine appointment as a defeat, Liu Bing presents it to Yunxiao as a route to institutional control. If Interception Sect fills the Heavenly Court’s vacancies, its disciples would occupy positions ranging from major celestial offices to local mountain gods. 354

Yunxiao concludes that this arrangement would effectively turn the Heavenly Court into Interception Sect’s territory: the sect would retain its cultivation paths while extending influence throughout the Three Realms. 354
