Background / History

Frieza inherited the military forces established by King Cold and became the new ruler after King Cold’s retirement. Although he presented himself as a refined and business-minded leader, he gradually tightened his control over the Frieza Force and became increasingly independent from the Saiyan army 21 33.

Under Lord Beerus’s command, Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta with a Planet Destroyer Ball. He claimed that Beerus’s order was the primary reason for the attack, while wiping out the Saiyans was a secondary task. Frieza also insisted that he had never feared the Super Saiyan legend. He deliberately allowed Vegeta and several other Saiyans to survive, intending to see whether they could eventually become Super Saiyans 20 33 34.

Frieza’s forces spent the following year hunting remaining Saiyans across the North Galaxy. Dodoria and Zarbon led these searches, while Frieza’s reputation for casually destroying planets made other organizations avoid territories where his army operated 48 109.

Rather than permanently occupying most conquered worlds, Frieza usually sold them to wealthy buyers. When Zarbon reported that the Sephiria Force was composed of powerful Saiyans from the ancient Planet Sadala, Frieza became interested in their history and strength. He theorized that the Saiyans of Planet Vegeta were an expelled branch of the Sadala Saiyans and sought cooperation with Queen Sephiria’s force 180. Frieza is a short, pale-colored Space Demon with crimson eyes, two pointed horns, and a long tail. He commonly travels in an egg-shaped hovercraft rather than walking, maintaining an elegant and controlled appearance even while commanding large-scale military operations 20 210.
