Background & History
Amy first met Benjamin in Noren Academy's cafeteria, approaching him as a fellow Alchemy Department apprentice. She introduced herself directly, used their shared difficulty with meditation to start a conversation, and openly explained that she sought friends and information among the new students. Benjamin initially suspected her motives, but accepted her friendship after recognizing her sincerity and exceptional communication skills. 10
Their conversation continued until the cafeteria emptied. Benjamin subsequently judged that Amy had approached him both to assess his potential and to determine whether he understood the Academy's arrangements, regarding her as a smart, practical potential partner. Their later cafeteria meetings became a regular source of Academy gossip and useful information. 11 15
Amy came from a minor noble family with a shallow wizarding inheritance. Including Amy herself, her family had only three actual wizards, none of whom were stationed at the Eloria frontline. 106 107
During early Alchemy training, Amy showed stable control over spiritual power while shaping gold, even though her work remained crude. She also studied Magic Potions alongside Alchemy. 13 100
Amy advised Benjamin on the Academy's point-earning system, explaining that new apprentices generally had to perform basic Alchemy Workshop labor before gaining access to more profitable avenues such as commissions, potion sales, or academic submissions. 14
She also directed him toward Academy-certified, low-grade laboratories available for short-term rental through the schools' task areas. Although she cautioned that ordinary Alchemy practice did not require a laboratory, she respected his desire to verify an idea and did not pry into his research. 14
During an accident involving an Element Dust Separator, Benjamin protected Amy from the released corrosive dust and chaotic energy. Amy was later startled by the exceptional qualities Benjamin displayed during the crisis. 25 26
Before the Gray Rock Plane trial, Amy turned Benjamin's early intelligence into a profitable venture. Using her contacts in the Alchemy and Magic Potion Departments, she organized the stockpiling and production of apprentice-grade artifacts and potions before prices rose, then shared part of the profits with Benjamin. 38
Amy participated in the Gray Rock Plane trial with Benjamin and Victor. Rather than joining the final large-scale conflict, Amy and Victor relied on caution, perceptive abilities, and resource gathering; Amy ultimately ranked 35th in the assessment. 39 60
During the Academy's next five-year cycle, Amy and Victor received assignments involving departing apprentices, returning frontline wizards, and new arrivals. Amy explained that some apprentices were required to pose as enthusiastic newcomers and publicize returning Combat Department wizards' achievements. She later acted as the injured victim in a staged Alchemy classroom accident intended to impress safety lessons upon new apprentices. 70 79
Amy entered the Eloria trial alongside Benjamin and Victor. After they reunited, she fought Magic Beasts, helped gather intelligence from captured Orcs, supported Benjamin's advancement to Level 1 Wizard, and used her personal connection with Viola to help the group obtain intelligence and cooperation opportunities at the Wizard Camp. 94 95 98 101 107
At the beginning of their Eloria expedition, Amy and Victor landed close enough to reunite quickly. Both narrowly avoided serious harm from a nearby explosion caused by Benjamin's earlier projectile. After meeting Benjamin and taking shelter in a cave, Amy acknowledged that their Level 3 apprentice strength was inadequate for the plane's dangers. Although she had prepared advancement potions, she had not brought them with her. 94
When the trio was caught in the Underground Demon Elder's trap and Benjamin faced the Blood Angel, Amy and Victor immediately followed Benjamin's signal to escape. Working together, they used Alchemy to excavate a tunnel into the deeper mine while Benjamin held the enemy's attention. 111 112
After Benjamin defeated the Blood Angel and brought the injured Victor back to camp, Amy and Victor acknowledged that they could no longer keep pace with Benjamin's combat strength. They offered to remain at camp and manage intelligence support while he operated alone. Benjamin accepted and gave them purple potions to aid their own improvement. 114
After Eloria's initial conquest, Amy and Victor informed Benjamin about the planned establishment of Noren Academy No. 147. The two were expected to become among the new Academy's initial instructors and authorities. She later entered another planar war with Victor, intending to seek new insights through battlefield experience. Decades later, she sent Benjamin a message insisting that he wait for her and Victor so the three could travel the Plane Battlefield together after their military service. 144 152 221
Their Eloria contributions were sufficient to obtain territory on the cluster's main plane. Amy viewed acquiring her own territory primarily as a means of becoming independent from her parents rather than establishing a new wizard family. She and Victor also called Benjamin back to Noren Academy No. 13 for the graduation ceremony. 144 146
Amy and Victor died sometime after that message and before Benjamin's Level 2 illegal-wizard task. Their deaths left Benjamin emotionally traumatized and disrupted his research. 228
Benjamin learned of their deaths while reviewing messages after decades absorbed in research. Amy Gray Sparrow and Victor Sario had been confirmed dead following the failed “Nest of Star Whispers” mission: the native race's self-destruction mechanism detonated the plane's core, killing the entire Wizard squad. Benjamin discussed the loss with Viola, and intervention from both Viola and Clark helped ease his immediate turmoil enough for him to resume his Lava Giant research. 227
During Benjamin's later entrapment in a bizarre plane that comprehensively suppressed extraordinary power, Amy appeared as his childhood companion and university classmate alongside Victor. Since Benjamin had already confirmed that both companions had fallen, their presence was among the signs that the high-technology world was not ordinary reality. 343
This counterpart first arrived with Victor to accompany Benjamin to school. She treated an ordinary axe as a major symbol of combat strength, consistent with the Fantasy world's distorted common sense. Benjamin later accompanied her and Victor to choose a birthday present for her aunt, whom he recognized as Viola. Information supplied by Amy about Viola's upcoming Clean Beach volunteer event gave Benjamin an opportunity to continue investigating the world. 342 345 346 348
Benjamin eventually confronted the entity controlling his apparent parents, Amy, and Victor. Amy initially attempted to maintain the scene by expressing confusion, but Benjamin rejected the performance. Justice subsequently explained that it could not read Benjamin's true wishes and had supplied family and childhood-friend relationships as compensation. These revelations establish the constructed nature of Amy's role in that world, rather than demonstrating that the original Amy had returned to life. 357 358
Appearance
Amy was introduced as a young girl with curly brown hair, lively eyes, and a bright smile. Her clothing was clean and neat rather than luxurious, and her energetic demeanor contrasted with the exhaustion caused by repeated meditation failures. 10
- Curly brown hair when she entered Noren Academy. 10
- Her hair had turned golden by the time she returned from Eloria. 144
- Lively, curious eyes and a notably expressive smile. 10
- Carried an unusually large amount of food during her first meeting with Benjamin, reflecting her substantial appetite. 10
- Wore a lightweight apprentice robe covered in protective runes before the Gray Rock Plane trial. 38
- Her Fantasy-world counterpart wore lively casual clothes during an outing with Benjamin and Victor. 348
Personality
Amy is direct, outgoing, and highly adaptable in conversation. When Benjamin reacted suspiciously to her approach, she quickly recognized the problem and changed tactics, frankly admitting that she had been meeting people to build connections and gather information. 10
She combines a cheerful, gossip-loving personality with practical ambition. She eagerly pursued information about Academy developments, recognized the commercial value of Benjamin's trial intelligence, and built a profitable network through friends in the Alchemy and Magic Potion Departments. 24 38
Although socially skilled, Amy is selective about when to build connections. She deliberately avoided approaching high-profile apprentices at an inappropriate moment, reasoning that she would otherwise only become a background presence rather than form a meaningful relationship. 12
Amy also has a mischievous, playful streak. She invited Benjamin to serve as a “plant” in an Alchemy Studies demonstration, later revealing that an earlier classroom accident involving special metal had likewise been arranged to leave a strong impression on new apprentices. 79
Amy is also attentive to her companions' safety. She repeatedly warned Benjamin about the danger of the trials and Eloria, and she and Victor prepared to defend him during his Level 1 Wizard advancement. 38 39 94 101
Despite her usual confidence, Amy could feel envy and insecurity when confronted with exceptional talents. Before the Eloria trial, she complained about the attention surrounding the leading geniuses and openly envied Anya's spirit entities. After the Blood Angel battle, Benjamin's overwhelming superiority left her disappointed and helpless at losing the ability to fight beside him, although she still chose to support him through intelligence work. 88 114
After returning from Eloria, Amy remained outspoken and teasing, particularly when she misunderstood Benjamin's large Elf and Dark Elf population in Golden Garden as evidence of romantic interests. 144
Within the bizarre false world experienced by Benjamin, Amy remained close to Benjamin and Victor and sought a birthday gift for the counterpart of Viola presented as her aunt. She was familiar with this “aunt’s” cruel, provocative personality and later warned Benjamin against becoming involved with her. 346 348
Her Fantasy-world counterpart distinguished sociability from close friendship: although she said she got along with many people, Viola observed that these acquaintances had not become true friends. Amy also immediately recognized that Viola's unusually gentle response to her birthday gift was inconsistent with her normal behavior. 345 348
Abilities & Skills
Heat Manipulation
Amy independently constructed a complex Wizardry Model centered on heat manipulation rather than a simple Fireball Spell. 111
The model combined basic fire-element wizardry with her knowledge of Alchemy and Extraction Art. Its fireballs were a convenient application of a broader ability to gather and remove heat. 111
- Creates and launches multiple fireballs by drawing heat from the environment. 95 111
- Can reverse the process at critical moments, extracting heat from an opponent's body to cause freezing and stiffness. 111
- Used Alchemy to manipulate surrounding rock into restraining stone walls during the battle against an Underground Demon Elder. 110
- Her fire attacks were ineffective against the fire-resistant Demon Elder. Against the Level 3 Blood Angel, her freezing technique severely exhausted her and produced only a brief stiffness before its divine power dispelled the chill. 110 111
- Her offensive casting displayed composure and precision developed over years of training; Benjamin recognized that she and Victor had independently constructed their offensive models while still apprentices. 95
- As a Level 1 Wizard with independently constructed offensive spells, her attacks were considered capable of damaging ordinary Level 2 beings, though the unusually powerful Demon Elder resisted them. 110
Alchemy and Potion Studies
Amy trained in Alchemy and also studied in the Potions Department. 10 100
- Maintained relatively stable spiritual-power fluctuations while shaping gold during Alchemy instruction. 13
- Helped prepare materials and conduct Alchemy with Benjamin and Victor while traveling through Eloria. 100
- Applied Alchemy offensively by reshaping terrain to restrict an enemy's movement. 110
- Used Alchemy with Victor to excavate an escape route through the mine when Benjamin confronted the Blood Angel. 112
- Took a Runology elective alongside Benjamin. 35
Intelligence Gathering
Amy treats information as both a survival tool and a tradeable resource. 10 38 106
- Gathered Academy news through conversations with other apprentices. 10 24 35
- Proposed purchasing or trading for non-secret intelligence when the Wizard Camp denied the trio access to its mission system. 106
- Maintained a relationship with Viola by connecting her to junior buyers seeking secondhand Wizard Artifacts. 107
- Used Soul Search to extract needed intelligence from a captured Orc Shaman, then ended the Shaman's suffering. 98
- Practiced Eloria's human common tongue and Orcish with Benjamin and Victor so that the group could better adapt, disguise themselves, and gather future intelligence. 98
- Identified an energy concentration deeper in the mine as a probable altar after the battle against the Underground Demon Elder. 110
- Took responsibility for camp-based intelligence support with Victor when Benjamin began operating alone in Eloria. 114
Networking and Trade
Amy's social network allowed her to create opportunities unavailable to Benjamin and Victor. 38 106 107
- Organized advance purchases of raw materials and production of consumables before the Gray Rock Plane trial, earning a major profit after prices rose. 38
- Obtained and retained contact with Viola, a senior wizard who had sold her a high-level artifact. 106 107
- Arranged the meeting that led to Benjamin trading his self-created Magic Potion for intelligence and assistance establishing an intelligence network. 107 108
- Recognized and used the secondhand Wizard Artifact market, where returning planar-war wizards sold unneeded equipment to fund their recovery and research. 107
Equipment
- Level 5 Soul Search Wizard Artifact — A rune-engraved crystal ball containing the Soul Search Wizardry Model; Amy used it to rapidly extract intelligence from captured targets. She acquired it through Viola rather than ordinary Academy purchasing channels. 97 98 106 107
- Amy saved points for a long time to purchase it. The artifact could search for specific intelligence within a dozen breaths, but its nominal Level 5 spell did not mean Amy could reproduce a Level 5 Wizard's personal use of Soul Search: Benjamin assessed that apprentice or Level 1 control made it comparable to a Level 3 Wizard's casting. 97 108
- Magic Potion bag — Carried a valuable-looking supply of potions before entering the Gray Rock Plane trial. 38
- Protective rune robe — Lightweight apprentice robe covered with protective runes. 38
- Communication Wizard Artifact — Used to contact Benjamin after entering Eloria and coordinate the team's reunion. 94
Relationships
- Benjamin — Met him as a fellow Alchemy apprentice and became one of his closest companions. She provided Academy intelligence, profited from his early trial information, fought beside him in Eloria, escaped with Victor at his signal during the Blood Angel incident, and planned to travel with him after military service. 10 38 94 112 221
- Victor — Fellow Alchemy apprentice and core member of Amy and Benjamin's three-person team. They reunited immediately after entering Eloria, advanced alongside the group, cooperated to escape the Blood Angel's trap, and later entered military service together. 39 94 106 112 152
- Viola — Senior wizard and business contact. Amy bought Viola's Level 5 Soul Search artifact, introduced additional customers to her, and later relied on their established relationship to secure intelligence opportunities for her team. In the bizarre false world encountered by Benjamin, a counterpart of Viola appeared as Amy's aunt; this manifestation does not establish a real familial relationship between Amy and Viola. 106 107 343 348
- Clark — Alchemy instructor who assigned Amy Academy duties and used her as an actor in a staged classroom accident designed to teach new apprentices. 70 79
- Parents — Amy's small wizard family included only three actual wizards in total. After Eloria, she complained that her parents' busy schedules left little time together and regarded acquiring her own territory as a step toward independence from them. 106 144
- Justice — Entity controlling Amy's Fantasy-world counterpart alongside Benjamin's apparent parents and Victor. Justice explained that these relationships had been provided because it could not identify Benjamin's true wishes. 357 358
