Appearance
An ordinary adult Lava Giant stands roughly seven to eight meters tall, while elite and high-ranking individuals can grow considerably larger. Their bodies resemble twisted, solidified crimson rock covered in fissures through which living lava flows. 171
- Broad shoulders and pillar-like limbs; hands and feet each have three thick digits tipped with black, shovel-like nails. 171
- “Eyes” are lava cores that glow like smoldering embers rather than biological eyes. 171
- Their outer magma layer is living plasma blood, not a surface secretion; it gives their rock skin its crimson color and extreme heat. 171
- They continuously vent steam from their mouths and nostrils, making the surrounding air hot and dry. 171
- Ordinary soldiers may carry burning warhammers and stone shields. 173
- High-ranking Lava Giants can exceed ten meters in height; the Lava Giant ruler of the Blazing Sun Realm was over ten meters tall and soaked in lava pools several thousand degrees hot. 168
- Benjamin's artificially incubated Level 2 specimen stood nearly ten meters tall upon reaching adulthood. 225
Physiology and Abilities
Core Furnace and Elemental Body
A Lava Giant's body is sustained by a heat-generating elemental system commonly described as an internal core furnace, together with circulating plasma-like lava. Their rock tissue contains crystal structures that collapse under damage, draw on internal energy, and rapidly repair themselves. 171
- Adult Lava Giants naturally possess physical and energy levels comparable to a Level 1 Being; elite specimens can reach Level 2. 171
- Their core furnaces convert flame energy into strength, making fire-element attacks effectively restorative. 171
- They are naturally immune to fire, high temperatures, and most heat-based toxins. 171
- They can digest minerals, elemental energy, and even the essence of flesh-and-blood creatures; consuming the latter can accelerate maturation or help overcome advancement bottlenecks. 171 226
- Their digestive tract is formed from multiple layers of condensed lava rather than conventional intestines. Its energy absorption, conversion efficiency, and adaptability became a major focus of Benjamin's racial-modification research. 171 226
- Their immense internal energy reserves are a defining trait of their connection to the Fire Elemental concept of “energy.” 205
- Each adult functions as a mobile energy source; their unusually abundant reserves are identified as a fundamental reason they surpass comparable elemental creatures from other planes. 205
- Although they are elemental beings, Lava Giants must breathe through cracks in their heads and torsos. This respiration functions as a heat pump and elemental-conversion process that stabilizes the core furnace and expels metabolic impurities. 171
Distributed Crystalline Core Structure
Living Lava Giants do not possess a single conventional biological core. Their life information and fire-element reserves are distributed among innumerable tiny crystalline fragments throughout the body. 238
- These fragments are generally no larger than grains of rice and contain both fundamental life information and stored fire-element energy. 238
- Losing a portion of the distributed crystal fragments in battle is not inherently fatal, accounting for the race's considerable survivability. 238
- The “Lava Giant cores” commonly collected by wizards are generally artificial consolidated cores formed from a dead Lava Giant's remaining crystal fragments. 238
- For reproduction, a Lava Giant separates a sufficiently full life-bearing crystal fragment and places it in an energy-rich magma pool or Incubation Pool. 188 238
- A restored high-level core can retain enough life essence to serve as an incubation mother source even when its activity is insufficient to revive the original individual. Benjamin used a fragment no larger than a grain of sand from a restored Level 4 core for this purpose. 225
Lava Transformation and Regeneration
In sufficiently hot environments, Lava Giants can abandon a fixed solid form and become semi-liquid or fully liquid lava. 171 173
- Physical blows may pass through or be absorbed by their molten bodies. 171
- Damaged bodies can regenerate by absorbing nearby lava and heat. 171
- Magma pools function as effective recovery sites; a damaged high-level Lava Giant can return to battle after falling into one. 186
- The three strategic volcanoes used during the Frostfire war allowed some Lava Giants to become pure liquid magma and drastically increased their strength. 173 174
- Lava Giants can temporarily resist sudden cold by forming a porous, insulating outer layer, but prolonged extreme cold slows their energy circulation, movement, and regeneration. 171
- Their molten bodies possess considerable malleability. During the underground cavern battle, a Level 3 Lava Giant deliberately opened a gap through its torso to let a precisely aimed energy attack pass through without striking its vulnerable waist and abdomen. 185
Thermal and Seismic Senses
Lava Giants perceive their surroundings through Elemental and vibrational organs rather than conventional vision and hearing. 171
- Their lava-core eyes perceive heat currents, lava pulses, and distant fire-element fluctuations, allowing them to see in darkness where heat or fire energy is present. 171
- Internal resonance chambers and mineral crystals detect low-frequency infrasound and underground tremors. 171
- This seismic perception lets them sense distant troop movements, volcanic activity, and abnormalities within the earth's crust. 171
- They use deliberate ground-stomping shockwaves to search underground caverns for hidden enemies. 183
Combat Capabilities
Lava Giants combine overwhelming physical strength with fire and earth elemental control. 168 171
- They can casually move rocks weighing hundreds of tons. 168
- Their surface can become magma or flame, and their strikes can ignite the surroundings. 171
- They launch magma bombs and raise hardened earth spikes in combat. 180
- Despite their size, they possess exceptionally fast straight-line charges—faster than a Level 2 Wizard's Flight Spell—though turning and evasive maneuvering are less agile. 186
- Advanced individuals demonstrate formidable combat intelligence, strategy, and adaptability, including weaving through projectile barrages, using shattered rock as improvised ammunition, and exploiting an opponent's casting delays. 185 186
- They can shift ley lines and mobilize energy across large regions, enabling strategic weapons such as volcano arrays that raise battlefield temperatures to around one thousand degrees Celsius. 173 205
- Lava Giants can channel the energy of surrounding earth veins to reinforce their bodies, elemental attacks, and regeneration, particularly when fighting in volcanic caverns. 183 185
- Prophet variants can exercise more refined control over earth-vein power than ordinary Lava Giants of the same level. 187
- They can spray their internal magma under high pressure. During the attack on the wizard defensive nodes, this technique vaporized corrosive venom and set a Corpse-Flesh Stitching Monster ablaze. 207
- The race's vast energy reserves can amplify the Snow Monsters' time-related talent into strategic-scale temporal effects. This is a cooperative application of the two races' abilities, rather than an independent Lava Giant time talent. 205 207
Known Countermeasures
Benjamin's reports on the race identified several methods used by wizards against Lava Giants. 172
- Low temperatures combined with physical strikes.
- Suffocation-type wizardry.
- High-Frequency Sonic Waves.
- Targeted destruction of an internal energy-gathering region, particularly in the chest or head; Benjamin's modified Lava Annihilation-derived spell could kill a Level 2 Lava Giant in a single precise strike. 179 187
- High-Frequency Sonic Waves disrupt the mineral-crystal structures responsible for their vibrational perception, destabilizing internal lava circulation and potentially immobilizing the target. 172
- Suffocation-type wizardry blocks the breathing cracks and elemental exchange required to maintain heat balance, potentially forcing a Lava Giant into rigidity or unconsciousness. 172
- Ordinary suffocation methods that merely obstruct conventional respiratory passages are not necessarily effective; the spell must disrupt the Lava Giant's particular heat-pump and elemental-exchange mechanisms. 171 172
- Downgraded Level 2 Lava Annihilation can fatally destroy a Level 3 Lava Giant if it precisely strikes a vital energy-gathering area. Hits to a limb or the edge of the torso cause severe damage but do not guarantee a one-hit kill. 186 187
- Master Elwin's race-targeted destructive spell dismantled Lava Giant elemental structure at the material level, eliminating molten bodies while leaving other beings and the surrounding terrain unharmed. 174
Society and Reproduction
Lava Giant civilization is centered on volcanoes. They live around lava seas, active volcanoes, underground earth veins, and fortified caverns, feeding on lava and using flame as power. 168 179
- Settlements may be hidden deep within lava veins and protected by energy barriers integrated with surrounding earth-vein energy. 179
- They maintain underground gathering points with Level 1 laborers and patrols, Level 2 inner guards, and stronger leaders. 180
- Their civilization includes agricultural outposts and underground livestock plantations adapted to high-temperature conditions. 181 182
- Their plantations grow special plants as livestock feed under artificial energy-sphere illumination. Livestock include large lizard-like creatures with petrified horny coverings that tolerate the extreme heat. 181 188
- Their military hierarchy includes ordinary warriors, Level 2 elites, Level 3 commanders, Level 4 generals, prophets, and a king. 175 187 202
- Their Level 6 king commanded tens of millions of Lava Giants; together, the Lava Giant and Snow Monster civilizations possessed reserve forces numbering in the hundreds of millions. 168 173
- Prophets are rare variants with inherited memories, limited foresight, improved earth-vein control, and spiritual curses that can influence thought and judgment. 187
- A prophet's foresight is an imprecise perception of future trends rather than absolute prediction; wizards attribute the ability to limited unconscious access to the Plane Origin's information. 187
- Prophet curses can cause confusion and hesitation, and are ordinarily used to reinforce lower-ranking Lava Giants' obedience to prophetic authority. 187
- Benjamin could not obtain the Mortal Aura he sought from the Lava Giant settlements he investigated. He considered their semi-elemental lifeform or unfamiliar emotional expression as possible explanations, but did not establish a conclusive cause. 182 192
Incubation
Lava Giants normally reproduce by separating a fragment of their core and placing it in an energy-rich lava pool. 188
- Natural hatching takes approximately three to five years, and most naturally born individuals remain at Level 1. 189
- Artificial Incubation Pools reduce gestation to one or two months and improve the likelihood of producing stronger offspring. 189
- Incubation Pools connect to the Fire Elemental Plane's projection to draw energy for gestation. 225
- A restored Level 4 core produced a Level 2 Lava Giant after two months in a captured Level 2 Incubation Pool. 225
- Incubation Pools were developed to overcome the slow natural growth rate and low proportion of high-ranking Lava Giants produced through ordinary magma-pool hatching. 189
- Artificial pools employ special ritual reinforcement. A Level 2 Incubation Pool gives offspring a high probability of eventually reaching Level 2 and increases their chances of advancing to Levels 3 and 4. 189
- The advanced gathering point raided by Benjamin contained nearly one Level 2 elite for every ten Level 1 Lava Giants, an unusually high proportion explained by its Incubation Pool. 188 189
- Benjamin inferred that the pools' connection to the Fire Elemental Plane incorporated the Lava Giants' own innate talent; the connection also produces faint spatial interference around a functioning pool. 225
History
The Lava Giants and Snow Monsters were the dominant hostile races of the Frostfire Plane. Their civilizations occupied opposing volcanic and glacial regions, and their wars were traditionally contained around the Junction Mountains because neither race could easily invade the other's extreme environment. 168
Their territorial boundaries nevertheless shifted during these wars. Wizard surveys found that the losing civilization had sometimes been reduced to less than one-tenth of the plane's habitable territory. 192
When the Wizard expedition arrived, Lava Giant forces fought alongside their Flame Demon Giant Bats against the invading army. Their king, Kalamos, personally entered battle by transforming into a lava titan hundreds of meters tall. 169 173
Before the landing, Kalamos initially mistook the sky breach for an attack associated with the Snow Monsters. His prophet identified it with an ancient prophecy of enemies descending from the sky, prompting him to assemble his legions at the Junction Mountains. 168
During the subsequent Frostfire campaign, captured Lava Giants became major research subjects for Benjamin. His examinations revealed their core furnaces, living-lava blood, sensory organs, regeneration mechanisms, and digestive system; this research later enabled increasingly effective targeted anti-Lava Giant spells. 171 172 179
The Lava Giants later activated three strategic volcanoes by redirecting ley-line magma into them. The eruptions flooded much of the battlefield with lava, enhanced Lava Giant regeneration and transformation, and drove the wizard front back several kilometers. 173 174
A wizard Precision Destruction Spell specifically developed against Lava Giant biology subsequently annihilated nearly ten million Lava Giants within seconds and caused the Lava Giant–Snow Monster coalition to collapse into a panicked retreat. The spell was deliberately restrained, as a full-power sweep could potentially have devastated the entire Frostfire Plane and provoked Kalamos into detonating the Plane Origin. 174 175
During the pursuit, a Level 4 general rallied several thousand surviving Lava Giants for a counterattack. Viola engaged the general while Benjamin suppressed the supporting troops with Autonomous Floating Cannons and High-Frequency Sonic Waves, drawing their concentrated fire onto himself. 175 176
After the wizard counterattack routed their forces, surviving Lava Giants withdrew into underground lava veins and hidden settlements. Benjamin repeatedly infiltrated these sites, killed or captured their leaders, extracted intelligence through Soul Search, and seized a Level 2 Incubation Pool after battling two Level 3 Lava Giants. 175 179 181 188 225
One such advanced gathering point contained unusually large numbers of Level 2 Lava Giants, agricultural plantations, livestock pens, and an Incubation Pool. Its defenses included two Level 3 Lava Giants, one of whom was the prophet Heye Alvarez Alex Atkinson. 181 187 188
Heye had vaguely foreseen the intrusion and ambushed the entrance, killing the Level 1 Wizard sent to report to the camp. Its prediction underestimated the intruders, however, and it did not initially seek reinforcements from stronger gathering points. 183 187
During the battle for the gathering point, Heye attempted to use a cognitive curse against Benjamin. The curse instead triggered a backlash from Benjamin's Mystic Gang Mortal Dust Barrier, leaving the prophet vacant and defenseless long enough for a Level 2 Lava Annihilation attack to destroy its chest energy-gathering point. Benjamin and a Level 2 Wizard then jointly killed the second Level 3 Lava Giant. 187
The deaths of their leaders did not immediately break the defenders' morale. The remaining Lava Giants instead launched enraged, nearly suicidal attacks for almost half an hour before the three surviving wizards could explore the settlement and locate its Incubation Pool. 188
During his later raid on Abyss Snow City, Benjamin recovered the preserved corpse of a Level 4 Lava Giant that a Snow Monster lord had kept as a trophy. Its unusually intact remains later provided the core material used in Benjamin's incubation research. 196 225
Kalamos later met Snow Monster king Agron at the Frostfire Plane's core, where both races prepared a joint strategic weapon intended to “save the world.” The Lava Giants supplied an enormous quantity of energy for the weapon, while the Snow Monsters' time-related talent formed its other essential component. 202 205
During the ensuing offensive, the Lava Giant legion advanced through a Time Stagnation Domain and pushed past the wizard defensive nodes. Benjamin noticed that the strongest enemy fighters stayed out of the fighting and that the advancing giants treated the nodes as obstacles to bypass rather than objectives to destroy. When the Lava Giant and Snow Monster forces met, their intersecting time-stopping fields caused the plane to tremble and its sky to collapse. 207
When the Frostfire Plane awakened as a living entity after the Wizard Camp's earth-vein array attack, Lava Giants and Snow Monsters fled through the spatial fissure alongside the evacuating wizards. The awakened Living Plane was subsequently revealed to have been the underlying cause of the two races' periodic wars. 209 210
Viola later explained that Kalamos and Agron had agreed to cooperate with the wizards to escape the Living Plane's cycle of creating and destroying races for its amusement. Benjamin turned the accumulated Yin Evil Aura of its destroyed races against its soul, allowing the wizards to strike its exposed core and seal the plane. 215
Following the Lava Giant King's surrender to the wizard faction, the wizards acquired techniques for restoring high-level Lava Giant cores. Benjamin used this knowledge and the captured Incubation Pool to study and breed Lava Giants on the Purgatory Sulfur Plane. 225
Although Benjamin successfully incubated a Level 2 adult, he judged its strength inadequate for his current needs and the high-level core material too scarce for sustainable mass production. He therefore chose to improve the race's biological essence, extending his proposed modifications from its underlying life structure to its soul rather than relying on straightforward individual enhancement. 225
Legacy
Benjamin's later Black Giant project originated from Lava Giant biology and incubation technology.
- He used Lava Giant digestive and energy-conversion traits as a basis for racial modification research. 226
- The first Black Giant retained the essence of a Lava Giant while incorporating a hybrid engine derived from Lava Giant and Snow Monster cores. 239
- This modification created a black, cold-surfaced creature capable of absorbing heat, light, fire, frost, lightning, and other energy attacks. Its interior retained extremely high heat despite the cold surrounding its body. 239
- The captured Level 2 Incubation Pool became the foundation for Benjamin's later Black Giant breeding program. 225 243
- The hybrid's energy defenses combined water-system heat extraction and circulation, developed through analysis of Water Element Origin, with fire-system energy-property conversion developed through Lava Giant research. 239
Black Giant Development
Although Black Giants are a distinct hybrid race rather than Lava Giants, their physical foundation, energy-storage capacity, digestive adaptability, and incubation technology all originate in Lava Giant biology. 226 239
- Benjamin successfully raised five Black Giants, each over ten meters tall, with the strongest reaching Level 3. 243
- The first five specimens struggled in a mist-filled environment and were poorly suited to aerial and underwater combat. Benjamin temporarily equipped them with flying Wizard Artifacts during his specimen-gathering expedition. 248
- Benjamin planned to establish the Black Giants as residents and believers on the Purgatory Sulfur Plane, forming a self-sustaining society for his Incense Divinity Path. This led him to investigate a reproductive system based on Incubation Pool technology. 329
- He subsequently modified the Incubation Pool to produce stronger Black Giants and replicate subsidiary pools. 330
- By establishing ten modified Incubation Pools powered by a Level 7 Large Elemental Pool, Benjamin achieved a production rate of one Level 3 Black Giant per pool per minute. 337
- The lava seas, volcanoes, and sulfurous wastelands of the Purgatory Sulfur Plane became an ideal habitat for the Black Giants, whose sustenance remains based on lava and elemental energy. 337
- Black Giants preserved the Lava Giant line's exceptional energy reserves while gaining a Snow Monster-derived capacity to absorb a broad range of hostile energy attacks. 239 695
- The initial hybrid's innate reserves were somewhat smaller than those of its Lava Giant foundation, but its continuous external energy absorption still gave it astonishing energy-storage capacity. Competing heat-absorption effects and pure physical kinetic attacks were identified as possible countermeasures. 239
- During the Giant Spirit Realm war, Benjamin used Level 5 Black Giants as expendable breach units; they absorbed enemy energy, accelerated their advance through Temporal Disorder, and self-destructed to tear open the final defense line. 295
- Benjamin later revived a Level 5 Black Giant to assist him and three Gray Tower wizards during the battle for a Giant Spirit Realm treasure vault. 305
- Incubation technology also supported the creation of a Black Giant Priest. Preliminary Incense Divine Power was directed into an embryo in an Incubation Pool, producing a smaller Black Giant with a flowing liquid-metal surface. 365
- The original Black Giant leaders, Mount Magma and Rock Hammer, eventually reached the theoretical peak of Level 6 after centuries of devouring and evolution. 463
- Over nearly a thousand years, environmental adaptation and prolonged Plane Battlefield service produced population-wide mutations. Every Black Giant was born with a Body Tempering Method that enabled adaptive evolution, and changes in the Incubation Pool allowed newborns to inherit the race's accumulated improvements. 586
- Mount Magma later advanced to Level 7 and led the Black Giant Legion against the Tentacle Tree Civilization, withstanding a Level 7 attack without injury through the lineage's energy-absorption defenses. 589 695
- Against the Tentacle Tree Civilization's Frontier Fleet, Black Giant units rapidly healed the superficial wounds inflicted by suicide attacks, while Mount Magma emerged unscathed from a planet-destroying beam assessed by Benjamin as a standard Level 7 attack. 695
- Though less versatile than same-level wizards, Black Giants were described as exceptionally formidable in defense and survivability; sufficient numbers of Level 6 Black Giants could defeat a wizard of the same level. 695
- Black Giants later developed into organized construction and military units capable of coordinating through spiritual power and performing large-scale rune-engineering work. 686 738
- By the time Benjamin conducted later large-scale defensive testing, four Level 7 Black Giants could coordinate the Black Giant Legion's attack formations and provide tens of thousands of high-energy strikes. 885
