Background / History

Lin Jue grew up in poverty in Shu Village. His mother was abducted when he was young, while his father supported him alone before his uncle assumed responsibility for his food, clothing, and schooling. His uncle had previously saved him from drowning, but later became gravely ill after a fishing trip, leaving the family unable to afford the expensive medicine he required. Lin Jue studied at the village clan school with the initial intention of passing the imperial examinations and leaving the region. 1

After investigating supernatural disturbances at the Wang Family Ancestral Hall and discovering that the ancient book could teach him cultivation, Lin Jue abandoned his pursuit of official success. He left home to seek a method to stabilize his celestial soul, learn spells, and pursue “freedom and longevity.” 6 31

Cloud Crane Taoist accepted him as a disciple of Floating Hill Temple on Mount Yi after judging his courage and character. There, Lin Jue chose the Spiritual Law path and rapidly developed the Yin Yang Spiritual Law, Wood Escape, and an expanding repertoire of spells. 32 43

After Cloud Crane Taoist ascended, Lin Jue continued the temple’s lineage, traveled widely to exorcise demons, and became known throughout Qinzhou and the capital as True Person Lin.
