Background

Lu Wu was the senior disciple at Floating Hill Temple when Lin Jue entered the sect. During the master-apprentice ceremony, he introduced the temple’s rules, daily duties, facilities, and etiquette for receiving pilgrims and visiting Daoists. His explanations were concise but thorough. 34

His generation entered the sect comparatively late: even Lu Wu had cultivated on Mount Yi for only a little over ten years at the time the temple’s disciples were described as one of its weakest generations. 96
