Background / History

Rhaenyra became isolated after her mother’s death, Viserys’s marriage to her former friend Alicent, and Daemon’s removal from King’s Landing. As heir apparent, she feared being traded into a political marriage and described herself as a “lonely ghost” in the Red Keep; her younger brother Rhaegar became her primary confidant. 3

Her trust in Daemon was badly shaken after she secretly left the Red Keep with him and was nearly exposed through a brothel-related scheme. Rhaegar’s intelligence network and Illyric’s intervention brought her safely home and concealed her involvement. 44 45
