A Bao is the Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu's crown prince and the Heaven-Defying Demonic Dragon Race's first successor. He considers his bloodline the continent's supreme lineage and resents the attention Feng Xiu gives to mixed-blood relatives, including Leng Xiao and Xuan Ye. When ordered to locate Xuan Ye, he dismisses Ilex's successor as insignificant while obeying the imperial command 72.

At Grieving Cave, A Bao stops Moon Demon clansmen from demanding Xuan Ye's execution, declaring that Xuan Ye is wanted by Feng Xiu. He invokes Yueye as his fiancée to suppress the clan's opposition, but becomes enraged when she defends Xuan Ye and incapacitates her with a single palm strike 72 73.

He later abducts Yue Chen through a staged caravan incident, intending to use her disappearance to draw Xuan Ye into a prepared trap. A Bao also quietly replaces Yueye's subordinates with followers loyal to himself, leaving her isolated within her own faction 167 181.
