Background

Li Xiao was originally a programmer from modern Earth who died from overwork. He transmigrated into the body of a seventeen-year-old village scoundrel of the same name in Great Zhou's Willow Village. 1

The original Li Xiao had been spoiled by his widowed father, Li Youde, and had gained a poor reputation for idleness and recklessness. His broken betrothal had consumed the family's savings, leaving Li Youde, whose leg was injured, and Li Yu, who worked in freezing conditions at a laundry, to support the household. 1 2

After awakening in the new body, Li Xiao resolved to become responsible for his family. He began earning money, refused to let Chen Hu use Li Yu as a means to control him, and sought martial training to secure their future. 1 25 47

Appearance

Li Xiao is a tall, broad-framed young man whose physique was shaped by constant martial training and travel. 103 388

  • Well-proportioned, solid musculature and defined forearms that suggest explosive strength. 103 104
  • Steady, sharp eyes and a calm bearing repeatedly compared to a mountain or a javelin. 103 104 370
  • A darker complexion from sun, wind, and relentless training. 229
  • Usually carries himself with a restrained aura, making his actual strength difficult to judge. 145 370

Personality

Li Xiao is intensely practical. He prioritizes survival, cultivation, and the safety of those under his protection over reputation, sentiment, or conventional notions of heroism. He plans ambushes, conceals his true cultivation when useful, and treats alliances as reciprocal arrangements rather than unconditional loyalties. 68 124 140 306

His defining loyalty is toward his family. He protects Li Yu from coercive marriage proposals and opportunists, supports Li Youde despite their poverty, and later spends his rare time at home listening to his aging father's stories and checking on his sister. 1 47 224 560

Though initially detached from romance, he comes to value Liu Qingyue's sincerity and dedication. He remains unwilling to let personal attachment divert him from the martial path, but promises to protect their future while pursuing its peak. 229 324

Abilities & Skills

Panel

Li Xiao possesses a Panel that records his techniques, tracks proficiency, and grants Limit-Breaking Points when certain skills reach perfection. 60 188

  • Allows him to improve techniques through repeated practice with unusually precise feedback. 61 140
  • Can break a mastered skill's limit and evolve it into a higher-grade cultivation method. 60 188
  • Lets him control Qi and Blood at a lower apparent level, concealing his true cultivation in combat. 140 145

Iron Wire Fist

Li Xiao's principal close-combat art combines resilient defense, precise force control, and heavy striking power. 61 140

  • Condenses Iron Wire Force, a steady and heavy Internal Force suited to offense and defense. 61 75
  • Reached perfection and developed the Iron Wire Fist Divine Intent Diagram. 188 245
  • Can defeat stronger-looking opponents through timing, angle control, and prediction rather than raw force alone. 140 145
  • Used to subdue opponents ranging from Martial Masters to Sect Master Zhou Heming. 205 624

Archery

Li Xiao began with Basic Archery, then evolved it into the Chasing Wind Arrow Technique and later the Swift Wind Thunderclap Arrow. 60 188

  • Chasing Wind Force enhances arrows with speed, sharpness, range, and penetration. 61 67
  • Swift Wind Thunderclap Arrow is tied to a Divine Intent Diagram and later formed Wind Thunder Arrow Intent. 188 255
  • His archery is a major long-range killing method, especially when paired with a heavy bow. 60 200 255
  • High-level arrow techniques place a substantial burden on his mind and resources, slowing progress without suitable support. 317

Iron Sand Palm

A brutal palm-tempering method acquired from Wu Tiexiong's manual. 91 100

  • Produces Iron Sand Force, which emphasizes burst power and penetration at the moment of contact. 92
  • Requires repeated exposure to heated iron sand, medicinal liquid, and painful physical conditioning. 100 114
  • Can break hard-style defenses and incapacitate Martial Masters quickly. 92 205

Movement Techniques

Li Xiao uses several movement arts to compensate for opponents with greater raw strength.

  • Spirit Snake Steps — An unpredictable, flexible technique learned from Wang Jinshan; it filled his initial lack of a movement method. 140 142
  • Dragon-Snake Illusory Body — A high-level body technique that enables abrupt changes of direction and evasive, ghostlike movement. 194 225
  • Flying Cloud Leg — A leg technique perfected in one month and later used as both a mobility and spacing tool. 476 581

Internal Force and True Intent

Li Xiao can accommodate multiple Internal Forces, an ability normally dangerous enough to cause Qi Deviation. 115

  • Bears Iron Wire Force, Chasing Wind Force, and Iron Sand Force in separate channels. 115
  • Mastered at least three Martial Way True Intents through perfected cultivation methods. 255 506
  • Uses Martial Way True Intent as a means to compress and reconcile conflicting forces in his Dantian. 501

Listening Wind and Qi Gazing

The Listening Wind Exotic Insect grants Li Xiao exceptional sensory and recovery abilities. 128

  • Enhances hearing enough to distinguish distant sounds and minute physical cues. 128
  • Lets him detect breathing, muscle movement, Qi and Blood circulation, and exertion patterns to predict attacks. 145 200
  • Greatly accelerates wound recovery; a cut across his palm healed substantially within minutes. 128
  • Later evolved into Wind Listening and Qi Observing, allowing him to perceive the Fortune and Destiny manifested around others. 331 333

Sword Arts

Li Xiao cultivates the Life-Slaying Amitabha Sword Scripture and the Sword Drawing Sutra. 439 554

  • Successfully cultivated the Life-Slaying Amitabha Sword Scripture with Buddha Qi from a Sarira. 554
  • Wields golden Sword Qi capable of cutting through the Sixth Prince's Corrosive Poison Water. 615
  • Can use the Sword Drawing Sutra as a decisive counterattack after waiting for the right opening. 608

Alchemy and Talisman Study

Li Xiao's Herbal Mastery developed into formal alchemical skill under Elder Gu. 453 555

  • Refines pills personally, including beauty-preserving pills given to Li Yu. 555
  • Endured Blood Explosion Pill testing in order to learn from Elder Gu. 453
  • Has studied Basic Talisman Art, though his early attempts at drawing talismans failed because Qi Cultivator methods differ from Martial Dao. 369 480

Three Absolutes Returning Origin Qi

A high-grade Three Origins Sect cultivation method intended to unify multiple martial forces. 501 512

  • Uses Martial Way True Intent to restrain and fuse three distinct energies within his Dantian. 501
  • Progress is slow even with the Panel, requiring powerful pills such as Origin-Returning Pills to accelerate cultivation. 512 529
