Background & History

Chongming Sect was founded by Patriarch Chong Ming, one of the Nine Immortals. During the late ancient era, Chong Ming fought for humanity when foreign races, ghosts, spirits, and anomalies ran rampant; his recorded feats include exterminating myriad races, slaying the Divine Wood, suppressing the Nine Netherworlds, and sealing the Fallen Immortals. 1575 1888

The sect has produced nearly one hundred Patriarchs. Most perished during tribulation, while only a minority reached the Mahayana stage. 1577 A previous campaign by Patriarch Heng Xie against Qingyao Mountain caused heavy casualties among the demon race and left Heng Xie missing an arm after fighting the Demon Emperor, creating a lasting blood debt between Qingyao Mountain and Chongming Sect. 1611

The sect is controlled chiefly by the Jiu A Li Clan, Zhen Shi Su Clan, and Fu Guang Si Hong Clan, which have taken turns holding the Sect Master position across the years. 324 Following the removal of Su Lijing after the sect confirmed that his avatar had pursued Pei Ling and Li Lieyue, Si Hong Qingyan was formally installed as Sect Master. 1266 1578 1972

• Outer Sect — new disciples begin here after entering through Zhan Chen Platform. Outer Sect disciples cultivate the Bone Forging Art and may choose one supplementary discipline for free, including weapon forging, pill refining, talisman drawing, spiritual plant care, or beast taming. 15 18
• Inner Sect — stronger disciples advance through assessments and factional lineages. The Inner Sect includes the Thirteen Meridians, whose Pulse Masters hold substantial influence. 239 289 295
• True Disciples — elite successors. A True Disciple must attain Nascent Soul before becoming eligible to ascend as Holy Son or Saintess. 324 840

Chongming Sect is built amid a boundless sea of clouds, with mountain peaks resembling islands. Flying vessels, Yin Corpse Clouds, rare beasts, and cultivation constructs move continuously through its skies. 15 685 1573

• Zhan Chen Platform — the arrival point for new disciples. Its name signifies severing worldly attachments and entering the path of cultivation. 15
• Huaiyin Peak — one of the Outer Sect peaks; home to an Affairs Hall, the Hall of Many Laws, and a Hundred Treasures Pavilion. 18
• Hall of Inheritance — houses the Myriad Soul Lamps and portraits containing the divine senses and inheritances of past Patriarchs. 15 1258 1575

Sect Rules & Culture

Chongming Sect openly upholds the principle that the strong prey upon the weak. This worldview is deeply ingrained among populations raised under its rule, where weakness is regarded as an original sin. 2

The sect’s rules are strict but transactional:

• Insulting another Outer Sect disciple incurs a fine beginning at three Low-grade Spirit Stones. 18
• Injuries and killings are punishable by Spirit Stone fines rather than being inherently forbidden. 18
• Disciples unable to pay may be turned into fertilizer, cultivation materials, sources of essence blood, or souls for sect use. 18
• The sect rewards merits while punishing violations, treating resources as central to both discipline and advancement. 18 231

Profit is a defining Chongming Sect value. Its members are known for treating nearly anything as tradable at the right price, while high-level inheritances consume immense quantities of resources. 289 709 886 1973 The sect even charged visiting factions inflated entrance and accommodation fees for Si Hong Qingyan’s enthronement ceremony. 1572 1573

Its official attitude toward foreign races is domination: sect representatives have publicly exhorted disciples to enslave all races, slaughter the world, and uphold Chongming Sect prestige. 643
