Before attacking the capital, An evades surveillance with a Wood Clone, travels to Konoha through Kamui, visits the abandoned Uchiha District, and examines the stone tablet at Naka Shrine. He prepares a counterfeit tablet with fabricated Yin Release inscriptions intended for Madara, then returns to camp and gives Karin and Haku instructions for obtaining help during his absence. 304

An openly enters the capital with Complete Body Susanoo. The Daimyo’s recruited ninja fail to damage its armor, and former Konoha ninja lose the will to fight upon recognizing him. He destroys fleeing carriages, tramples the Daimyo’s mansion, and bombards escaping nobles before reducing the city to scorched earth. 304 305 306

Otogakure Defense and Tailed Beast Research

White Zetsu reports expanding wars and relays Orochimaru’s request for assistance against Kumogakure. An travels to the Land of Rice Fields but initially observes rather than intervening, identifying chakra reserves as a principal limitation of Orochimaru’s Tenseigan-based fighting. 306 307

An then negotiates research into an Incomplete Ten-Tails and permanent fusion of Tailed Beast chakra with human cells. He agrees to defend Otogakure in exchange for Orochimaru’s continued work and offers him the first opportunity to test the resulting power. 309 310

When A and Killer B attack, An switches to Complete Body Susanoo, overwhelms the Raikage, and swings the Eight-Tails across the battlefield. He refuses to permit a free retreat and demands payment. After Obito locates Kara’s overseas foothold, An accompanies him in disguise to a lawless island chain. He assigns Obito the task of locating the organization’s probable dimensional headquarters and infiltrates Jigen’s estate himself. Madara’s loud challenge at the entrance provides a diversion, allowing An to move toward the secret vault while preparing another “gift” for Madara. 316
