Background / History

Zhunti arrives at the Purple Cloud Palace alongside Jieyin to hear Dao Ancestor Hongjun preach the Dao. After finding the six foremost seats occupied, the pair attempts to dislodge Ye Jun from his place beside the Three Pure Ones. Their effort to provoke the Three Pure Ones into acting against Ye Jun instead exposes their scheme and leaves them embarrassed. 2 4 5

Following the sermon, Zhunti and Jieyin become Hongjun's Registered Disciples. They later pursue Kunpeng over the Purple Cloud Palace seating dispute, but abandon the attack when Ye Jun intervenes at Buzhou Mountain. 8 10

At the Seven Treasures Gourd Vine, Zhunti claims that one gourd has a karmic connection with him. Ye Jun defeats the claim by force; Zhunti and Jieyin are compelled to surrender Geng Gold Qi and a Bodhi Seed before being allowed to leave. 14

Zhunti subsequently discovers the Innate Spiritual Root Bitter Bamboo on Fangzhang Immortal Island and believes it can secure his Quasi-Saint breakthrough. Ye Jun follows him, takes both the Bitter Bamboo and the surrounding bamboo forest, then defeats Zhunti after a prolonged contest between the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree and the Yin Yang Great Cauldron. Zhunti concedes and flees, deliberately creating a conspicuous flash to draw others toward the island. 22 23 24

He later joins Jieyin, Di Jun, and Eastern Emperor Taiyi in an assault on Wuji Mountain and again confronts Ye Jun in a four-against-one battle. Zhunti and Jieyin manifest Western Mount Sumeru during the clash, but ultimately flee after their side is overwhelmed. 63 71 73

Near Wuji Mountain, Zhunti and Jieyin conceal a cave with a magic array and retrieve the Golden Silver Bodhi Twin Fruits. Randeng steals the fruits before they can depart; Zhunti later joins Jieyin in attacking Randeng to recover them. 87 88 91

At Hongjun's final preaching, Zhunti receives no bestowed treasure despite his expectations as a Registered Disciple. He then rushes toward the Treasure Distribution Cliff, only for Ye Jun to seize its treasures first and escape while Zhunti joins the pursuit. 94 95

Appearance

Zhunti is described as a short, stout Taoist priest. He commonly appears with his palms pressed together beside Jieyin, though his battle presence is marked by brilliant Buddhist light and the colorful radiance of the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree. 2 71 87

Zhunti is acquisitive and highly opportunistic. He repeatedly pursues rare spiritual treasures—including the Seven Treasures Gourd Vine, Bitter Bamboo, Golden Silver Bodhi Twin Fruits, and the Treasure Distribution Cliff—and justifies his claims through karmic connection or prior discovery. 14 22 88 95

He is quick-tempered when his gains are threatened. Ye Jun's seizure of the Bitter Bamboo pushes him into open combat, while Randeng's theft of the Twin Fruits prompts Zhunti to attack alongside Jieyin. 23 91 However, he recognizes when resistance is futile: when the Yin Yang Great Cauldron is about to fall, he concedes the Bitter Bamboo rather than risk death or grave injury. 24
