Background / History

Di Jun first appears among the Great Beings racing to attend Dao Ancestor Hongjun's preaching at the Purple Cloud Palace alongside Eastern Emperor Taiyi. At the conclusion of the first sermon, he volunteers to manage the Primordial World but is rejected; Hongjun instead appoints East King Duke as Head of Male Immortals. Di Jun's resentment toward both the appointment and East King Duke becomes apparent immediately afterward. 2 8

As the Demon Race expands, Di Jun becomes its Heavenly Emperor and rules alongside Taiyi. The brothers destroy Purple Mansion and kill East King Duke, absorbing his pure yang energy, before attempting to seize Queen Mother of the West's pure yin energy at West Kunlun. Ye Jun's intervention forces the Demon army to withdraw. 39 40

Di Jun is a black-robed man with a gloomy, intimidating bearing. During his visit to Taiyin Star, he changes into ceremonial red robes; in battle, he assumes the form of a Three-legged Golden Crow. 27 44 46

Di Jun is ambitious and status-conscious. He seeks positions of authority, builds the Demon Race Heavenly Court into a major power, and pursues resources—including pure yin energy—to strengthen its position. His rejection by Hongjun and repeated defeats at Ye Jun's hands deepen his resentment. 8 39 62

Though aggressive, he becomes more cautious after suffering repeated losses against Ye Jun. He hesitates before joining Jieyin and Zhunti's campaign against Wuji Mountain, recognizing that Ye Jun may retaliate later. 62 His concern for Taiyi is genuine: during the Witch–Demon conflict, he shields his brother from Pangu's attack with the River Diagram and Luo Book despite being severely wounded himself. 52
