Shrek Academy

Yu Xiaogang served as a teacher at Shrek Academy and presented himself as a master of Soul Master theory. When the Heavenly Dao Golden Ranking first appeared, he confidently predicted that its lower ranks would belong to sect leaders nearing Titled Douluo, while the top ten would be occupied by established figures from Martial Soul Hall, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan 2.

His predictions repeatedly failed. He defended Chrysanthemum Douluo's last-place ranking by claiming Yue Guan must have been injured or ill, only for the ranking to reveal that Yue Guan had chosen an unsuitable cultivation path 3. When his father Yu Yuanzhen ranked only twenty-fifth, Xiaogang denounced the Golden Ranking as fraudulent and vowed not to provide it theoretical validation 8.

The ranking's revelations about Ying's three top-tier Martial Souls further undermined Xiaogang's theories. Unable to account for the phenomenon, he argued that her strength must have been artificially forced through inferior Soul Rings and claimed that he could have trained such a talent into a god 20. The Golden Ranking later described Tang San as having been misled by a mediocre teacher, specifically criticizing the control-and-poison path Xiaogang had guided him toward 46.

Departure from Shrek

As Shrek's students began leaving in pursuit of Great Wall Academy, Xiaogang prioritized returning to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan over helping Flender locate Oscar and Ma Hongjun. His insistence that his clan could provide better disciples deepened his conflict with Flender 37.

He intended to reconnect with Bibi Dong after learning of her immense power, believing that she still had feelings for him and might help him attain godhood 28. After Tang San's Twin Martial Souls were exposed, Xiaogang sought Bibi Dong's protection for his disciple, overlooking Tang Hao's hostility toward Martial Soul Hall and Tang San's connection to a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast 48.

Campaign against Great Wall Academy

While staying in Martial Soul Hall, Xiaogang flattered Bibi Dong and blamed Great Wall Academy's rapid cultivation results on evil methods. He planned to publish a work as “Martial Soul Hall Elder Yu Xiaogang,” claiming that the academy had forced the growth of its students through demonic means 55.

His treatise, On the Hidden Truth Behind Great Wall Academy Members' Excessively Rapid Advancement, accused the academy of forced growth, evil cultivation, collusion with foreign Soul Beasts, and worship of evil gods. The book was widely distributed through Martial Soul Hall channels before Qian Renxue banned it and declared the Heaven Dou Empire an ally of Great Wall Academy 57.

Rakshasa God's servant

Fearful of his own limitations after witnessing Great Wall Academy's young prodigies, Xiaogang accepted the Rakshasa God's offer to become a divine servant 50. The pact allowed him to break into the Soul Elder realm, though it also caused Luoshanpao to emit a black-purple aura and become visibly sluggish 51.

He later chose to become the next Rakshasa God rather than remain merely a servant, even though doing so would replace Bibi Dong. The Rakshasa God exploited his ambition to drain the Golden Holy Dragon bloodline within him 67.

Under the Rakshasa God's influence, Xiaogang returned to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan transformed: thinner, somber, and marked by dark-purple light in his eyes. He proposed that the clan provoke conflict between humans and Soul Beasts, then use a staged assault to offer itself to Great Wall Academy as a useful military “blade” rather than a submissive vassal 73 74. He also attempted to persuade Yu Yuanzhen and Yu Luomian to accept Rakshasa aura and establish a deeper connection with the god 75 76.

During the divine conflict, Xiaogang tried to secretly unleash Rakshasa Evil Power against Great Wall Academy. Wu Zetian detected and suppressed him with a single display of imperial might, leaving him coughing blood 78. Su Han subsequently absorbed the Rakshasa God within him 79.

Personality

Yu Xiaogang possesses strong confidence in his own theoretical authority and regularly frames speculation as certainty. Even after his ranking predictions fail, he attempts to preserve his status by revising his explanations, rejecting contrary evidence, or calling the Golden Ranking false 3 8.

He is deeply preoccupied with overcoming the label of a useless Soul Master. Great Wall Academy's exceptional talents intensify his envy and insecurity, making him increasingly receptive to the Rakshasa God's promises of power and divinity 50 67.

After becoming entangled with the Rakshasa God, his conduct becomes more calculating and fanatical. He exploits his father and uncle's ambition, presents dangerous schemes as strategic opportunities, and expresses pleasure at the prospect of Martial Soul Hall's downfall 73 76.
