Background & History

Su Han arrived in the Douluo Continent nineteen years before the Golden Ranking's appearance. He awakened two super god-tier Martial Souls: the Blade of Gods and Demons, which embodies light and darkness, and Golden Crow Di Jun, an ancient Heavenly Emperor Martial Soul that controls the sun and moon. He was accompanied by a system that later became the Faction Cultivation System. 1

While traveling near the Lake of Life, Golden Crow Di Jun's aura awakened Gu Yuena. Su Han spent three years with her, hunted soul beasts that intruded upon the lake, and became a Soul Emperor at nine years old. When Gu Yuena's suppressed injuries relapsed, the two agreed to meet again after ten years. 34

Three years before the Golden Ranking, Su Han's system transformed into the Faction Cultivation System. Hua Mulan was his first summoned hero, and the two built Great Wall Academy from nothing. Su Han constructed a Great Wall in the Extreme North, shielding its inhabitants from the cold and soul beasts and creating a habitable territory. 1 11

Great Wall Academy functions as more than a school: it is a fortified garrison in the Extreme North. Su Han delegates routine management to figures such as Wu Zetian and Shangguan Wan'er while retaining final authority over the academy's direction, recruits, and military actions. 8

Su Han is described as an exceptionally handsome young man with shoulder-length black hair. When he activates his Martial Soul power, his eyes turn pale gold and his hair becomes flowing golden locks. 17 38

Su Han is supremely confident in his strength and openly dismissive of conventional notions of invincibility, including the authority of gods and the Heavenly Dao Golden Ranking. He considers the ranking's description of him as “the strongest below God-Tier” an insult rather than praise. 5 38

Despite his arrogance, he is deeply invested in Great Wall Academy's people. He builds shelter for the Extreme North, personally protects Sikong Zhen during divine lightning body forging, and ensures the Golden Ranking compensates every excluded academy member. 1 40 52

As an educator, Su Han values character over innate talent. He refuses to accept Tang San solely for his talent and instead cites Zhu Zhuqing—whose innate soul power was only level seven—as an example that potential can change while character is far harder to alter. 45
