Background / History

Bruce is the last member and public head of Gotham City's powerful Wayne family. He spent a decade away from the public eye after leaving at age fifteen, travelling and studying before returning to lead Wayne Enterprises. His carefully cultivated public image is that of a wealthy, charming playboy and fixture of parties, charity events, and media coverage. 12 13

Privately, Bruce became Batman, Gotham's masked vigilante. Having driven much of the city's traditional underworld into hiding, he began to doubt whether Batman remained useful as crime shifted toward terrorists, advanced weapons, and large-scale violence.
