Background
Loki is Laufey’s biological son and was raised by Odin and Frigga in Asgard alongside Thor. Odin allegedly intended Loki to one day inherit Laufey’s position and rule the Frost Giants while Thor ruled Asgard, keeping both realms under Aesir influence. Loki was instead led to believe that he might become Asgard’s king, leaving him humiliated and resentful when Thor was positioned as heir. 54
During Odin’s Odinsleep, Loki acted as Asgard’s king. He learned that Thor was attempting to reclaim Mjolnir on Earth and feared Thor’s return would end his rule. 56
His resentment ultimately drove him to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters, wound Heimdall, and send the Destroyer to kill Thor. Loki intended to use the Bifrost and the Casket to annihilate Jotunheim, securing Asgard’s uncontested dominion over the Nine Realms. 64 71
Appearance
Loki is a handsome, black-haired man with emerald-like eyes and a composed, aristocratic bearing. He commonly presents himself in regal or ornate attire, including a gold-and-green outfit while wielding his scepter on Earth. 56 150
- Black hair and striking emerald-like eyes. 56
- Usually wears a gentle or wickedly charming smile while concealing hostile intent. 56 272
- Can assume his Frost Giant form, with darkened blue skin and a body radiating freezing air. 284
- Was severely wounded by Power Stone energy, leaving purple-glowing abdominal injuries that his magic could not heal. 161
Personality
Loki is calculating, theatrical, and intensely prideful. He treats deception as both a weapon and a form of entertainment, using illusions, taunts, and psychological pressure to keep opponents off balance. He routinely dismisses humans as “ants” or “insects,” particularly when facing those unable to challenge his magic. 94 150 252
His ambition is rooted in a deep need for recognition. Loki resents Odin’s perceived favoritism toward Thor and believes that his own work for Asgard has been ignored. Even when Thor offers him the throne, Loki interprets the gesture as condescension rather than reconciliation. 68
Despite his arrogance, Loki is cautious around genuinely superior powers. He negotiated concessions from Thanos while under immense pressure, sought Dormammu’s aid when near death, and attempted to keep contingencies against both Dormammu and Thor. 138 189 251

Relationships
- Odin — Adoptive father. Loki resents Odin’s manipulation, favoritism toward Thor, and failure to recognize him as a legitimate heir. 54 68 71
- Frigga — Adoptive mother. Loki treated her gently while she watched over Odin, and her death continued to affect him despite his estrangement from Asgard. 56 273
- Laufey — Biological father and King of the Frost Giants. Their relationship is hostile and transactional; Laufey freed Loki from prison because he still had use for him. 95

- Aeo — Major enemy whose intervention ruined Loki’s New York campaign and cost him the Mind Stone. Loki places Aeo among those he intends to retaliate against. 161 272
Major Arcs
Asgardian Succession Crisis
As temporary king during Odin’s Odinsleep, Loki sought to prevent Thor from returning to Asgard. He wounded Heimdall and deployed the Destroyer against Thor, the Warriors Three, Sif, and Earth’s heroes. When they ignored his commands, Loki ordered the Destroyer to kill them all. 56 64 66
Odin’s awakening exposed Loki’s theft of the Casket of Ancient Winters and his plan to destroy Jotunheim. Loki was imprisoned in Asgard’s dungeon before Laufey, Frost Giants, and a Chitauri sorcerer broke him out. 71 94 95
Thanos’s Earth Campaign
After escaping Asgard, Loki entered Thanos’s service. He agreed to retrieve the Space Stone in return for Thanos’s promise of Earth and Asgard. Thanos provided him with the Mind Stone and planned to use Loki to open a portal for simultaneous attacks on Earth and Asgard. 138 139
Loki arrived at a Hydra base through the Tesseract, mind-controlled William Schmidt, and organized global diversionary attacks while preparing the New York portal. He activated the Tesseract at Stark Tower, but Aeo’s Power Stone attack wounded him badly and forced him to flee; Aeo later obtained Loki’s scepter and the Mind Stone. 150 151 154 158 161 320
Alliance with Dormammu
Near death from his Power Stone wounds, Loki approached Dormammu through Kasilas. He offered to sabotage the magical nodes protecting Earth in exchange for healing and an alliance. Dormammu purged the hostile Power Stone energy from Loki’s body but treated him as an expendable subordinate rather than an equal partner. 188 189
Loki subsequently planned around Dormammu rather than fully serving him, investigating Chitauri resources and magical nodes while sowing distrust between Dormammu and Kasilas. 251
Vector and the Australian Ritual
Loki captured Vector after discovering that she was a Space Ripper capable of tearing open spatial dimensions. He restrained her with rune-inscribed chains, drained her power into a gemstone, and used her abilities to support a ritual intended to bring Dormammu into the primary world. 250 254 272 275 277
When Thor and S.H.I.E.L.D. closed in on his Australian base, Loki used Hydra forces and Dark Sorcerers to delay them. His avatar confronted Thor, where Loki’s resentment of Odin and Thor remained evident despite his grief over Frigga. 272 273 275
Theft of the Time Stone
After the Ancient One fell, Loki remained invisible near the battlefield and watched the Eye of Agamotto become ownerless. Though he initially intended to flee, the Time Stone’s power tempted him into seizing it. 283
Loki escaped Thor’s immediate attempt to stop him, but Imperial soldiers overwhelmed his shields and duplicates. He was severely injured during the confrontation and was reported captured alongside Thor. 284

Trivia
- Loki’s illusions are potent enough to deceive Aeo’s enhanced senses and Heimdall’s all-seeing perception. 151 251
- He refers to himself as the “Son of Two Gods,” reflecting his identity as Laufey’s biological son and Odin’s adopted son. 56 252
- Loki considers Space Rippers rare enough to be compared with beings such as Odin in potential power, though Vector had only mastered short-range teleportation when he captured her. 272
