History

Return to the Mortal Realm

A Black Python escaped a forbidden zone and formed a blood cocoon nourished by Demonic Qi. When the cocoon vanished, Wang Mang emerged as a scholarly-looking young man in a black Python Robe and declared his return, blaming Heaven and Earth for the destruction of his Great Xin dynasty and vowing to throw the Mortal Realm into chaos 289.

He could expand into a towering One-Horned Demon God, wielding a black iron whip and drawing on a body durable enough to survive the backlash of the forbidden zone's formation 289. During his later confrontation with Mo Di, Wang Mang acknowledged merging with Wang Mang's original Primordial Spirit; his opponent accused him of devouring that spirit, using the flesh and blood of three thousand infants to form his Demonic Body, and gathering tens of thousands of life souls into a Soul Summoning Banner 290.

Sealing and the Power of Darkness

At the Ancient Battlefield of Investiture, Wang Mang broke through Mo Di's formations and Sword Master Puppet with Demonic Qi, Netherworld Water, his Black Whip, and the spatial power of his jade horn. Mo Di ultimately trapped him within a light sphere powered by the collective beliefs of his Mohist disciples and cast him into a Black Hole within a Star River 290.

Although his Demonic Body was lost in the Black Hole, Righteous Qi preserved his Spiritual Sense. There, he awakened as a colossal black python, devoured Evil Thought Stars, and attracted the notice of the Dark God, who recognized his cultivation as the return of the Dark Dao 298.

Wang Mang refined origin dark matter, defeated a Quasi-Saint beast remnant within his Sea of Consciousness, obtained the Heart of Darkness, and absorbed the Platform of Investiture. This granted him the Divine Body of Darkness and made the Platform his Natal Spiritual Treasure 299. Hua Dou prevented him from destroying the Ancient Battlefield's Restriction Great Array with the River of Destiny, forcing Wang Mang to abandon his current body and escape through the Platform 299.

Taiji Hall

Wang Mang entered Taiji Hall with the Giant Divine Attendant to open a route beyond the first layer of the Taiji World 310. He recognized that the Mirage Dragon's apparently perfect mirages were bound to reality: by forcing the dragon to introduce cultivation, Spiritual Power, Divine Beasts, and other impossible changes into its Three Kingdoms illusion, he created flaws that could be linked into a world under his own control 311 313.

He eventually compelled the Mirage Dragon to cooperate by offering a method for the Hall Spirits to escape using Law Stone Tablets rather than sacrificing their lives 314. In the Ghost Cart's domain, Wang Mang endured a misfortune curse that reduced him to thirty percent of his strength. He expended origin dark matter to annihilate the domain and forced the Ghost Cart into submission 315.

Using the Platform of Investiture, he condensed Law avatars of the eight guardian Fierce Beasts in place of their true essence, spirit, and vitality. This activated the hidden altars and forcibly opened the sealed passage onward 317.

Chaos God Demon Remnants

Beyond the passage, Wang Mang survived the Lava Giant and a collapsing magma realm, though the Platform of Investiture was temporarily destroyed. Its runes merged with a red stone pillar and reformed the treasure in a new state 318 319.

The reformed Platform absorbed lightning tribulation, gained the power of time, and evolved into a spatial Spiritual Treasure containing real primitive landforms. Within it, Wang Mang encountered the divine sense of a Chaos God Demon, which claimed he was merely a reborn fragment of itself; Wang Mang rejected that claim and insisted that he was his own person 320.

In a Primordial battlefield, Wang Mang and Disaster Beast Fei fought a Poisonous Giant before the Five Poisons Sage drew him into an altar built around fallen Chaos God Demon remnants. The Sage offered to integrate the Primordial Spirits of the Eight Fierce Beasts into Wang Mang, while Lu Bu warned that the offer concealed an attempt to seize his power 322 323. Wang Mang absorbed and refined Chaos God power regardless, leading to a violent transformation that the Five Poisons Sage attempted to exploit through the Chaos Five Elements Inverse Origin Great Formation 323 324.

Appearance

Wang Mang has no fixed appearance, having existed as a Black Python, a human host, a One-Horned Demon God, and the possessor of Ao Cang's body.

  • His human manifestation is a scholarly young man with a cold, emperor-like expression and a black Python Robe condensed from Demonic Qi 289.
  • In Demon God form, his body expands tenfold, lean muscles swell, and a glossy jade-white horn grows from his forehead 289.
  • His eyes can emit sharp lightning, while Demonic Qi surrounds his enlarged body 289.
  • After possessing Ao Cang, he has appeared as a burly man in Ao Cang's likeness 315.
  • His Spiritual Sense can assume the form of a colossal black python occupying an entire starry space 298.

Personality

Wang Mang is driven by resentment, ambition, and a refusal to accept the order imposed by Heaven. He views the destruction of his Great Xin dynasty as an injustice and openly seeks to destabilize the Mortal Realm in retaliation 289.

He is calculating rather than merely destructive. He identifies structural flaws in the Mirage Dragon's reality-based illusions, manipulates those flaws into passages, and negotiates with hostile Hall Spirits by offering them a path to freedom 310 311 314. He is also suspicious of potential allies, correctly anticipating the Mirage Dragon's ulterior motives and recognizing the Five Poisons Sage's attempt to exploit him 311 323.

His methods are ruthless. He treats the essence, energy, and spirit of an entire illusory world's living beings as a source of Darkness power, describing their consumption as voluntary self-sacrifice because he could allow them to be reborn 314.

Abilities & Skills

Darkness Law and Divine Body of Darkness

Wang Mang comprehends the Darkness Law and refined origin dark matter into the Divine Body of Darkness.

  • Darkness and ordinary Spiritual Power annihilate one another; the stronger force devours the weaker 299.
  • His Divine Body can be re-condensed as long as dark matter remains in the world 299.
  • Origin dark matter can annihilate Spiritual Power and destroy domains; Wang Mang used one point to erase the Ghost Cart's misfortune domain 315.
  • Dark matter is scarce and can only be condensed through Spiritual Treasures such as the Platform of Investiture 299.

Black Hole

Wang Mang can create Black Holes from Darkness power.

  • The Black Hole devours incoming debris, rocks, and vegetation, then annihilates matter with emitted black light 315.
  • It can be overwhelmed by sufficiently immense force, as happened against the lava flow 319.
  • Its use consumes precious origin dark matter when amplified to destroy a domain 315.

Demonic Body and Spatial Horn

His One-Horned Demon God form combines exceptional physical resilience with demonic techniques.

  • His Demon God body survived the forbidden zone's backlash, which would otherwise have crushed him to pieces 289.
  • He can unleash Demonic Lightning and fire through dense Demonic Clouds 289.
  • The jade horn can rend space and break confinement formed from spatial Law power 289 290.
  • The horn could not immediately break Mo Di's belief-powered Sword Net, whose circulating force restrained its spatial power 290.

Netherworld Water

Wang Mang can expel dense Netherworld Water to counter spiritual attacks.

  • The water devoured the pressure generated by the nine Purple Pillars at the Ancient Battlefield of Investiture 290.
  • It dimmed, but failed to break, Mo Di's light barrier 290.

Platform of Investiture

The Platform of Investiture is Wang Mang's Natal Spiritual Treasure and the center of much of his power.

  • He refined and absorbed it after using origin dark matter to escape its confinement 299.
  • It can preserve and project the origins of tens of millions of living beings, enabling Wang Mang to condense Law avatars of Taiji Hall's eight Fierce Beasts 315 317.
  • It protected Lu Bu from a rune divine monument by redirecting the monument's divine light onto Wang Mang 317.
  • After reforming in magma, it absorbed lightning tribulation, gained time power, and evolved into a spatial Spiritual Treasure 319 320.
  • A Chaos God Demon's divine sense remains within the Platform and contests Wang Mang's claim to mastery over its inner space 320.

Possession and Primordial Spirit Manipulation

Wang Mang has repeatedly used or attempted to use other beings' bodies and souls.

  • He merged with the original Wang Mang's Primordial Spirit after entering the Mortal Realm 290.
  • His Spiritual Sense later merged with Ao Cang's Primordial Spirit, allowing him to assume Ao Cang's form 309 315.
  • Ao Cang's powerful but unrefined Primordial Spirit can manifest as a Black Dragon soul shadow to defend Wang Mang from attacks on his own Primordial Spirit 323.
  • The incomplete integration of Ao Cang and Wang Mang's other powers remains a major weakness 323.

Swordsmanship

Wang Mang can manifest a massive black sword and use Sword Light to fight supernatural foes.

  • His attacks immobilized and permanently destroyed domain-created giants that ordinarily regenerated 322.
  • He formed Sword Nets to disperse poisonous hands and used layered Sword Light to keep lethal poisonous fog from touching his body 322.
