Background / History

The Heavenly Dao initially acted as the Primordial World's authority that witnessed vows and granted Merit. It rewarded Jiang He's creation of Human Race characters with enough Merit for him to enter the Golden Immortal Realm, and responded to the Three Pure Ones' establishment of their sects with vast Merit phenomena. 4 12

Its impartiality was called into question when the Three Pure Ones attained Sagehood without using Primordial Violet Qi. The Heavenly Dao manifested as a gigantic eye amid a storm vortex, displaying anger and hostility—emotions that a true Heavenly Dao should not possess. 12

The Sages later determined that the self-conscious Heavenly Dao had engineered the renewed Witch-Demon conflict. Its objective was to destroy Buzhou Mountain, disperse Pangu's will, eradicate Pangu's descendants, and gain sole control over the Primordial World. 43 45

When its schemes failed, the Heavenly Dao openly attacked the Primordial World. Its manifestation darkened the sky, devastated mountains and rivers, killed low-level cultivators through its pressure, and turned the world's Dao-rules violent. Nuwa, Houtu, the Three Pure Ones, and Jiang He united to resist it. 45

Pangu's remaining will emerged from Buzhou Mountain and suppressed the Heavenly Dao. The Great Dao then manifested and erased the Heavenly Dao's selfish consciousness, leaving behind only impartial rules that reintegrated into the Primordial World. 46

The resulting New Heavenly Dao began correcting the world's broader trajectory despite the changes caused by Jiang He, including the emergence of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. It also recognized the Human Race's alliance with the Phoenix Clan through auspicious blessings and increased Human Race fortune. 63 64

Later, the Void Demon Lord and Time-Space Dao Venerable infiltrated the New Heavenly Dao's rules. Their corruption produced the Investiture of the Gods, an order intended to bind 365 elites to Heavenly Court positions and provoke internal conflict across the Primordial World. 82 83

Heavenly Merit and Oath Recognition

The Heavenly Dao responds to major acts that affect the Primordial World's order.

• It granted Jiang He immense Merit after he inscribed foundational Human Race characters. 4
• It answered the Three Pure Ones' sect-founding declarations with descending Merit Golden Light. 12
• Its recognition of major vows could influence cultivation, as seen when Jieyin and Zhunti received Merit through their great vows. 13

Dao-Rule Control

The former self-conscious Heavenly Dao could directly manipulate the Primordial World's fundamental rules.

• It manifested as a colossal, pupil-less eye spanning ten thousand li. 45
• It formed Dao-rule blades, chaotic light pillars, and a net of rules capable of annihilating space and damaging Sage artifacts. 45

Fate Manipulation

Before its consciousness was erased, the Heavenly Dao treated the Primordial World's major conflicts as instruments of control.

New Heavenly Dao

After the Great Dao erased its selfish consciousness, the Heavenly Dao became a rule-based force rather than an independently scheming will.

• The former self-conscious Heavenly Dao could be resisted by the combined efforts of Pangu's descendants and the Primordial World's Sages. 45
• Pangu's residual will was capable of suppressing it, despite the Heavenly Dao's overwhelming control of the world's rules. 46
• The Great Dao could erase its selfish consciousness completely, restoring only impartial Heavenly Dao principles. 46
• The New Heavenly Dao's lack of independent awareness allowed the Void Demon Lord and Time-Space Dao Venerable to corrupt its rules from within. 83 84

• Hongjun Dao Ancestor — The former Heavenly Dao seized Hongjun's body and Dao foundation after he merged with the Dao, forcing his true spirit to escape into chaos. 64
