Background / History

Venerable Primordial was one of the Three Pure Ones and personally selected the Chan Sect's Twelve Golden Immortals as the Pangu Orthodox Lineage. Their repeated defeats at Ye Changqing's hands—sometimes all twelve being suppressed with one hand—damaged his pride and contributed to the rift between the Three Pure Ones. He consistently regarded Jie Cult disciples with disdain. 1 4

Although he and Sect Master Tongtian were once fellow members of the Three Pure Ones, their relationship deteriorated after Tongtian accepted Ye Changqing as a disciple. Venerable Primordial regarded Ye Changqing's talent and the growing strength of the Jie Cult as a long-term threat. 81 91

During the gathering at the Purple Heaven Palace over the Heavenly Court's lack of personnel, he proposed selecting Jie Cult disciples rather than Chan Sect or Myriad Immortals Sect disciples, subtly shifting the burden away from his own faction. 29

After Grand Master Lingbao was endangered by Buddha Pilu, Venerable Primordial intervened personally, killed Buddha Pilu, restored Lingbao's body with his essence, and annihilated Western Sect disciples until Daoist Jieyin and Daoist Zhunti withdrew. 39

Venerable Primordial is intensely proud and reputation-conscious. Ye Changqing's victories over the Chan Sect and later defeats inflicted on Venerable Primordial are recurring sources of humiliation and resentment. 1 100
