Background and History

Majin Buu is an ancient monster created by the wizard Bibidi to rule the universe. Alongside Bibidi, he attacked the Sacred World of the Kai, killed multiple Supreme Kais, and absorbed the South Supreme Kai and another Supreme Kai. As Buu became increasingly evil and uncontrollable, Bibidi sealed him away rather than destroy him 233.

Bibidi's son Babidi later sought to revive Buu by collecting energy. Although the opened seal initially appeared empty, Buu's scattered flesh eventually regrouped into innumerable small bodies and fused back into Fat Majin Buu 244 249.

Buu initially obeyed Babidi, but his growing independence culminated in him killing his master after rejecting his orders 263. Following the separation of his evil half and Kid Buu's defeat, the remaining Fat Majin Buu was revealed to be childlike and kind rather than malicious 266 276.

Majin Buu's appearance changes drastically according to his form and absorptions.

Personality

Fat Majin Buu is initially playful, childish, and eager to “play” with opponents, even while serving Babidi. He can become vicious when angered, but after being separated from his evil half, he becomes notably docile and simple-minded 249 276 283.

Thin Majin Buu is overtly malicious, calculating, and violent. He uses hidden flesh as an ambush tool, absorbs opponents to increase his strength, and displays arrogance after inheriting Saiyan traits through absorption 262 263.

Kid Buu represents Buu's most primitive evil. He seeks destruction, intends to destroy Earth, and fights with a playful cruelty. Despite his aggression, he retreats when Vegeta's Ultimate Blast Cannon threatens him 267 270.

Main Timeline Revival and Battle

Babidi's attempt to revive Majin Buu brings the Z Fighters away from the World Martial Arts Tournament. After re-forming from shredded flesh, Fat Buu overwhelms Son Zilan, Son Goten, and Trunks, then battles Son Goku and Vegeta 233 249 251 256.

Son Goku's Super Saiyan 3 and massive Kamehameha fail to permanently destroy Buu due to his regeneration. Vegeta also cannot overcome him after Babidi removes the magic-enhanced power he had granted 254 256.

Absorption and Rebellion

Vegeta's assault drives Buu into his Thin Majin Buu form, which absorbs Vegeta. Buu subsequently absorbs Gotenks and Son Gohan through a pre-positioned flesh trap, but Gohan's absorption is part of a plan to rescue those trapped inside Buu 257 258 262 263.

After gaining enough power to defy Babidi, Buu kills him. Gohan and the others later escape Buu's body with Fat Majin Buu, triggering Buu's evolution into Kid Buu 263 266.

Kid Buu's Defeat and Fat Buu's Integration

Kid Buu is taken to an uninhabited planet to prevent Earth's destruction. He outlasts Vegeta's Super Saiyan 3 form through regeneration and energy conservation, but Son Gohan ultimately overwhelms him in Super Saiyan 4 and defeats him with a Kamehameha 268 270 274.

The surviving Fat Majin Buu becomes a sparring partner. After Gohan repeatedly defeats him and threatens him in Super Saiyan 4, Buu surrenders and is welcomed into the group 276 283 284.

Future Timeline

Majin Buu awakens in the Future Timeline after Future Cooler's defeat, apparently because enough energy had become available to break his seal. With no Babidi present, Fat Buu is free but maddened by hunger 397.

Future Trunks battles Fat Buu, who copies his Ultimate Explosive Wave and regenerates from destruction. Thin Buu later emerges, but Piccolo destroys him completely; Future Trunks then eradicates Fat Buu without leaving any flesh behind 398 399 400.
