Background / History

Namek campaign

Frieza learns of the Dragon Balls and decides to travel to Planet Namek, hoping to obtain eternal life and rule the universe indefinitely 6. On Namek, he leads the Frieza Force's search for the Dragon Balls, dismissing the deaths of weak scouts as insignificant and prioritizing the collection effort 15.

When he reaches the battlefield, Frieza intends to torment Vegeta, Goku, and Gohan for taking his Dragon Balls. He recognizes Goku's resemblance to the Saiyan who opposed his attack before Planet Vegeta's destruction and resolves to kill him, his son, and his grandson 29.

Frieza repeatedly escalates the battle through transformations, humiliating Vegeta, restraining Goku, and attempting to destroy Namek when Super Saiyan Gohan overwhelms him. Gohan's Kamehameha ultimately destroys Frieza completely, leaving no cells behind 32 38.

Returns and resurrections

Frieza later appears on Earth and attacks its people and infrastructure out of hatred for the Saiyans. Gohan defeats and destroys him again in a beam clash 137 138.

During an Otherworld disturbance, Frieza attempts to recruit Vegeta back into his service, offering him command beneath himself. Vegeta instead transforms into a Super Saiyan and defeats Frieza with an Ultimate Explosive Wave 192.

The remnants of the Frieza Force use Earth's Dragon Balls to revive Frieza, Cooler, and King Cold. Aware that the Saiyans have grown far stronger, Frieza persuades his family to retreat, train, and postpone their revenge 298.

Final revenge campaign

After training for a year, Frieza returns to Earth with Cooler, King Cold, and the Frieza Force to exterminate the Saiyans and humanity 313 314. While Earth's defenders eliminate the army, Frieza advances beyond Golden Form into Diamond Form and overwhelms Super Saiyan God Vegeta 323 325.

Frieza then battles Gohan at full Diamond Form power. He retreats from Gohan's Hakai Energy but continues the fight, only to be outclassed once Gohan enters Ultra Instinct. Gohan ultimately destroys him with a final energy attack after taking the battle into space 329 330 331.

Appearance

Frieza is initially encountered being carried in a Baby Carriage on Namek. His appearance changes drastically between forms, ranging from a tall, heavily built second form to a small, compact final form 15 32 34.

Personality

Frieza is supremely arrogant, regarding himself and the Frost Demon Clan as the universe's strongest beings. He repeatedly calls Saiyans “Wild Monkeys,” treats subordinates as expendable, and considers the destruction of entire planets an acceptable means of eliminating enemies 15 18 35.

He prefers humiliation over efficient victory. Against Vegeta and Goku on Namek, he toys with them, uses Goku as a “football” while he is restrained, and seeks to make his enemies wish they were dead 29 32. His pride becomes panic when confronted by Super Saiyans or Gohan's higher forms, often driving him to attempt planetary destruction rather than accept defeat 36 38 329.

Despite his arrogance, Frieza can act pragmatically when survival is at stake. After his resurrection, he recognizes that confronting the Saiyans immediately would be reckless and convinces his family to train before seeking revenge 298.
