Background / History

Early operation

The Heavenly Dao governs the Primordial World's laws and constrains beings through karmic debt and the shifting “great trend of heaven and earth.” Ao Chen regards his independent Mythical Grand Unity Method as necessary precisely because conventional paths remain deeply entangled with its laws 2.

When Hongjun attained sainthood, the Heavenly Dao manifested in celebration; its increasingly stable operation was understood to leave less room for anomalies such as Ao Chen 4. Hongjun's teachings subsequently established paths to sainthood that bound cultivators ever more deeply to the Heavenly Dao, particularly the merit-based route 32.

Conflict with Ao Chen

Ao Chen's Dao repeatedly draws the Heavenly Dao's hostility. His breakthrough provokes an unprecedented tribulation, including three Thunder War Generals with Quasi-Sage combat power 25. Later, after the emergence of his completed Mythical Mysterious Immortal scripture, the Heavenly Dao manifests its Eye and unleashes a World-Destroying Heavenly Punishment intended to erase both the scripture and its creator 100.

Before Hongjun's Dao integration was complete, he could influence the punishment through Heavenly Dao authority rather than directly exceed the limits permitted by the Great Dao. He used the Saints' True Spirit Imprints to form six Saint True Spirit Projections against Ao Chen 100. Their use exposes the Saints' lack of complete autonomy and intensifies their distrust of both Hongjun and the Heavenly Dao 101 109.

Dao integration and aftermath

Hongjun ultimately completes his merger with the Heavenly Dao, announcing that its grand trend can no longer be altered. An immense net of laws then envelops the Primordial World, asserting comprehensive Heavenly Dao authority 169 170.

In the ensuing conflict, Hongjun—merged with the Heavenly Dao—uses Order Divine Chains and an Order Prison to seal Ao Chen and the River of Time 172 179. After losing to Ao Chen, Hongjun self-Daoizes, causing the Primordial World to collapse until Ao Chen reverses time and restores it 180.

Ao Chen does not destroy the Heavenly Dao Origin after defeating it. He distinguishes the pre-integration Hongjun from the Heavenly Dao's remaining rules, judging the latter necessary for the world's continued stability 183.

The Heavenly Dao is ordinarily formless, perceived through the Primordial World's laws, Dao resonance, and its pressure upon living beings.
