Realm and Sagehood

Sagehood has several documented paths:

• Merit and opportunity — Nuwa received an opportunity from Hongjun and gained immense merit by creating the Human Race 1276.
• Sect founding and vows — Jieyin and Zhunti established the Western Teachings; Jieyin’s forty-eight great vows supplied merit toward their Sagehood 807 1276.
• Completing the Great Dao — Houtu became a Sage after transforming into the Six Paths of Reincarnation, despite lacking the opportunity others expected a Sage to need 172.
• Heavenly Machine Tower — Its rewards include complete Great Daos that can provide opportunities to become a Sage 832 1156.

Powers and Limits

• Sages can wield the power of the Great Dao, identified as a fundamental difference between them and ordinary beings 56.
• The gap is not merely a matter of numbers: Kong Xuan concludes that even she and two powerful Human Race leaders together cannot overcome a Sage 802.
• Sages are not absolutely indestructible; higher-level energy can kill them 812.
• Sage-level combat power does not necessarily mean Sagehood. The Chaos Four Monkeys can approach Sage-level strength through the Fighting Saint Law, while Godzilla is described as a Sage-tier combatant 852 1076.

Notable Sages

• The original six — Taishang Laozi, the Primeval Lord of Heaven, Sect Master Tongtian, Nuwa, Jieyin, and Zhunti 53 1276.
• Houtu — An Ancestral Witch who became an Earth Dao Sage through the Six Paths of Reincarnation 172 382.
• Sanqi — A Heavenly Machine Tower Sage whose unexpected appearance drew attention to the possibility of previously unknown Sages 17 18 237.
• Yang Mei — Attained Sage status 3,000 years before Hongjun; severe injuries later limited his Battle Power Ranking placement 1097.
