"Daoist friend, do you feel there's something amiss?"
Hong Yun thought for a moment, then asked slowly:
"What is the original purpose behind your idea, Daoist friend?"
Di Jun's expression shifted. He exchanged a glance with Fuxi, a strange look in his eyes.
At first, he and Fuxi had only briefly discussed this question.
The main reason was that the Immortal Dao simply wasn't suited to them.
But now that Hong Yun had asked, Di Jun felt something stir in his heart.
He lowered his head slightly and thought:
Never mind. These are just some wild notions of mine. What's the harm in saying them aloud?
He gave Hong Yun a wry smile.
"I won't be afraid of you laughing at me, Daoist friend. The first reason I want to establish this Dao alongside all of you is certainly so that I can attain Primordial Unity!"
"The Great Dao stretches endlessly. Who wouldn't want to advance further?"
Everyone nodded slightly at Di Jun's words.
That was the honest truth. They all felt the same way, so there was no point pretending otherwise.
Which of them had come to listen to the Dao at Zixiao Palace without hoping for the same thing?
But Di Jun continued:
"There's another reason, though I'm afraid it may make everyone laugh."
"I was born on the Sun Star, and my younger brother Taiyi and I have traveled through the Primordial Wilderness a few times.
"After the Dragon-Han Tribulation, the three tribes declined."
"But the many subordinate races fared even worse. With no one to lead them, they ended up fighting among themselves, pointlessly losing lives."
At this, Hong Yun's eyes suddenly lit up!
No way!
Had Di Jun already begun to consider uniting all the lifeforms of the Primordial Wilderness and founding the Demon Clan?
A large part of the Demon Clan had originally been affiliated with the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Tribes.
After those three tribes withdrew from the world because of their Karmic Debt, the myriad races were left without a leader.
Only then did Di Jun gather them together and establish the Demon Clan!
Di Jun said:
"I wondered whether they were hostile to one another because they belonged to different factions and races."
"If everyone cultivated the same Dao and came together, wouldn't things improve?"
As the saying went, those who shared the same aspirations followed the same path.
Di Jun's idea was for everyone to cultivate the same Dao, and naturally become one another's people.
The look in Hong Yun's eyes grew even more astonished.
Good grief, this was exactly what Hongjun had in mind!
And he wanted to sweep up all the races of the Primordial Wilderness.
Once everyone cultivated his Demon Dao, who would still practice the Immortal Dao?
He'd take all the fortune for himself, and all the credit for teaching and guiding them, too!
Who else would Hongjun target?
Nu Wa was part of the Demon Clan and might not care.
But which other Saint wouldn't see him as a thorn in their side?
Besides, the more people who cultivated this Demon Dao, the more countless practitioners would push its boundaries.
Their many different ideas would come together.
It would inevitably grow stronger and stronger!
Hong Yun couldn't help but exclaim sincerely:
"I greatly admire your vision, Daoist friend!"
Hong Yun wasn't flattering him in the slightest. At the height of the Demon Clan's power,
it had controlled half of the Primordial World and united countless races besides the Witch Clan. Only a handful had refused to join.
By all rights, they had achieved what the Ancestral Dragon and the others had tried to do but failed!
And right now, Di Jun seemed to care only about love and peace.
Hong Yun believed him!
But he believed even more that once the Demon Dao was established and the Demon Clan truly came into being,
the world would change. Even if Di Jun still held to his original ideals, circumstances would force his hand.
He would have no choice but to do many things against his own wishes!
Di Jun's words had deeply moved everyone.
Taiyi naturally regarded his elder brother with respect.
Fuxi, too, gazed at Di Jun with fervent eyes.
"I never imagined you had such a vision, Daoist friend!"
"You feel such compassion for the lifeforms of the Primordial Wilderness."
Fuxi also considered the implications. If they could truly accomplish what Di Jun had described,
educating and guiding the Primordial Wilderness would be one benefit. Even if they only managed to achieve a fraction of what they had discussed,
they would surely gain considerable fortune!
Then could he and his younger sister attain the Great Dao sooner?
As he thought about it, he looked at his younger sister, Nu Wa.
Zhen Yuan Zi, however, had heard Hong Yun spin so many theories about hidden schemes that he reached much the same conclusion as Hong Yun in an instant.
He still wore his usual amiable smile, but inside, he was on guard.
"No wonder Little Brother Hong Yun politely turned Di Jun down before!"
"This is essentially following the old path of the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Tribes. I'm afraid they'll ultimately meet the same fate as the Ancestral Dragon and the others!"
"Little Brother Hong Yun, don't lose your head!"
Zhen Yuan Zi began to worry about Hong Yun.
Then he looked at Hou Tu and Xuanming.
Hou Tu seemed somewhat moved, while Xuanming was more or less indifferent.
That made sense. They belonged to the Witch Clan.
Battle and conquest were part of their everyday lives. There was nothing especially frightening about this to them.
Even if they died, they would simply return to the embrace of Father God Pan Gu.
After Di Jun finished speaking, he kept his eyes fixed on Hong Yun.
He felt that Hong Yun always seemed so confident, as if he had some kind of plan.
Perhaps he could offer them some help!
Besides, Zhen Yuan Zi and Hong Yun were both highly accomplished in cultivation.
If he could invite them to join...
He continued, pressing him for an answer:
"Do you have any suggestions, Daoist friend?"
"How would you advise me?"
Hong Yun pondered for a moment.
Di Jun had now opened his heart to them and spoken his mind.
Just listening to these words at face value, one could only feel that Di Jun meant well.
He felt compassion for the lifeforms of the Primordial Wilderness!
But to anyone clever, what he was really saying was: Hurry up and join us!
Look at how bright our prospects are!
Merit and fortune by the bucketful; attaining the Dao and becoming a Saint are just around the corner!
