Seeing his brother-in-law's dejected and impoverished state, Deren felt a pang of sympathy, but remembering his rampant misdeeds and wickedness in Blackrock Mountain, he quickly retreated. He immediately thought that to save his life, he needed to use some drastic measures. Luckily, he had a female mage here who specialized in dealing with those who refused to submit.
"Listen, Nefarian. You have three choices: First, be captured by the Alliance and taken as spoils; second, be captured by the Red Dragonflight and put on trial; third," Deren revealed a sly smile, "... find a powerful mentor to protect you. You've been misbehaving for too long without parental guidance. So, we'll find you a mentor to discipline you. Of course, this will also protect you from those who want to kill you."
Nefarian looked up warily. "What kind of teacher?"
"Young, beautiful, and highly skilled in magic," Deren counted on his fingers, "The kind of female teacher who could easily defeat Deathwing with one hand."
Black Dragon scoffed. "Young, beautiful, and with superb magic, she could easily defeat my crazy father's female teacher? Impossible, absolutely impossible!"
"Never mind whether it's possible or not, you choose the conditions I've set," Deren pressed.
"Then of course we'd choose the third option. But there's no way there could be a female teacher like that," Nefarian in human form shook his head.
"Here's what we'll do. If I really find someone like that to be your teacher, you'll have to sign a master-servant contract with her. The kind that's bound by your soul. Otherwise, she'll complain that your reputation is too bad and you'll be hard to control in the future." Deren began to set a trap.
Upon hearing this, Onyxia understood Deren was going to find as Nefarian's tutor. Afraid she might burst out laughing, she quickly lowered her head, not wanting her foolish brother to notice. This was too funny, absolutely too funny. She longed to see her brother completely subdued by that person.
Black Dragon hesitated for a moment, then rested his head on his hand and thought for a while, "If I could really find a female teacher who is young and beautiful, with higher magical power than me, and whose strength could easily defeat Deathwing's father, I might consider it."
"Deal!" Deren his hand on the table. Then he nodded to Onyxia, "Call Miss Aegwynn over here."
"Miss Aegwynn," Nefarian repeated the name, "I feel like I've heard that name before. But you call her 'Miss,' so you're not some noblewoman, are you?"
Onyxia desperately suppressed a laugh and immediately dialed the Communication Crystal: "Miss Aegwynn? Yes, I have a homeless Black Dragon here. Deren wants to find him a young, beautiful, and highly skilled magician as a teacher, the kind who can form Soul Contract. Don't worry about him betraying his master. Yes, come right away, it's all arranged!"
When the Portal lit up, Nefarian witnessed a scene he would never forget: a guardian with cascading silver hair walked in on light, her magical power as vast as the sea, making him appear like a pitiful chick in comparison. Crucially, this teacher was curvaceous, young, and beautiful—a truly rare beauty, just as his brother-in-law had described. He couldn't help but swallow hard.
"So you're the one who wants to become my apprentice?" Aegwynn raised an eyebrow in disdain.
Nefarian's pupils contracted sharply—he saw the vastness of the stars in those eyes, and the magical energy powerful enough to crush even the gods.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible!" Nefarian muttered to himself, "How could there be such a young powerhouse in the world? Even Dragon would have to admit defeat before her. Even the madman Deathwing might not be a match for her."
"So, how about it? This beautiful young lady I found for you, can she be your teacher?" Deren asked his brother-in-law with a smile.
The thought of signing Soul Contract made Nefarian hesitate. He felt strange; if he sold himself to this extraordinary woman, his future would likely be bleak.
"Fine, it seems you don't want to become my disciple. Let's give it to Varian in exchange for some benefits. Alexstrasza probably won't offer much in return." Seeing the Black Dragon's hesitation, Deren wanted to push him a little.
"I'll sign!" The Black Dragon knelt down with a thud. "What about the Soul Contract? I can offer my dragon soul right now!"
"You want to become my apprentice? I might not even agree. Just some Tom, Dick, or Harry wants to be my student," Aegwynn said with a look of disdain.
"Madam, he's practically my brother-in-law, and a shareholder of Blackwing Fertilizer. He's not inherently bad, but he was neglected growing up and can't distinguish right from wrong, so he went astray. Now we need to find a teacher to properly guide him so he can become a good dragon. You should take this silly dragon in; he's even willing to sign Soul Contract, which shows he's sincere," Deren advised. If Nefarian's crimes were truly heinous, he deserved to be skinned alive. But to save his dragon life, he wanted to shift the blame to his father.
Nefarian was truly terrified. He knew that after so many years of evil deeds, he would eventually be punished. Now that he had found his brother-in-law, with a powerful and beautiful teacher, he felt it wasn't a bad deal. He immediately knelt before Aegwynn, pleading, "Please, teacher, accept me. From now on, I will only listen to you and will never dare to disobey." With that, he offered up his soul imprint.
Aegwynn thought for a moment. It was true that Deren had too much influence, and he owed Deren a huge favor for regaining his youth. Besides, taking a Black Dragon as a disciple wouldn't be a loss no matter how you looked at it. So he nodded and said, "Then, for Deren's sake, I'll take you in. Remember, you must obey me from now on. If you dare to misbehave again, I'll tear you apart."
"I've remembered it," Nefarian quickly promised.
Aegwynn then cast a spell, forging Soul Contract with Nefarian. From now on, whether he lived or died was merely a matter of a thought. Archmage of Aegwynn's caliber naturally had ways to control a Dragon through its soul.
Nefarian, seeing the matter resolved, beamed with delight and immediately began flattering his teacher. After all, Aegwynn's strength was undeniable, and the Black Dragon revered the strong. Now, having latched onto a peerless powerhouse even more formidable than Deathwing, he felt his life was finally secure.
The matter was finally resolved satisfactorily. At Deren's prompting, Onyxia immediately took out a treasure chest, handed it to Aegwynn with both hands, and explained on behalf of her brother, "Thank you for your mercy, madam. My foolish brother has always been unruly and has committed many evil deeds since childhood. It is his honor to receive your guidance and to atone for his sins by protecting Azeroth in the future. This is a small gift, representing my heartfelt sentiments as his sister."
Aegwynn smiled and nodded, accepting the treasure chest without ceremony and storing it in her Space Bag without even glancing at it. She said earnestly, "You're lucky to have met Deren, thus avoiding many tragic fates. I'll take care of your brother's matter; with me here, I can at least save his life. My old reputation still holds some weight. Don't worry. If he dares to not be a good dragon in the future, he'll suffer." She then glared at Nefarian. The latter shrank back, truly in awe of his teacher.
"Alright, this matter is settled. I'll take my new disciples back first. It's still a mess over there." With that, a flash of Arcane teleportation appeared, and the man and the dragon vanished.
Deren remembered the simp Blue Dragon in the Mage Tower, and now with the addition of a chuunibyou Black Dragon, a wild grin spread across his face. " The Mage Tower is going to be even more lively from now on."
