Background / History
Ning Fengzhi leads the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and is responsible for the education, safety, and future standing of his daughter, Ning Rongrong. When Rongrong runs away to acquire her first Soul Ring through the Golden Saber Squad, he is angered by her disregard for the sect’s established Soul Ring traditions and fears that the squad may endanger her. He sends Sword Douluo Chen Xin to observe the expedition and intervene if needed. 1
After Ning Rongrong becomes increasingly resistant to formal study, Ning Fengzhi recognizes that his overly protective upbringing has left her isolated and without genuine companionship. Learning that she repeatedly sought out Qin Yuan—who had never pursued her himself—he hires Qin Yuan to guide her cultivation and studies. 9 10
Over the following two years, Qin Yuan’s play-based instruction transforms Rongrong into a more motivated learner. Ning Fengzhi acknowledges this progress, generously rewards Qin Yuan, and regards him as a useful independent collaborator rather than forcing him into the sect. 11 12
Personality
Ning Fengzhi presents himself as courteous, generous, and attentive. He personally thanks Qin Yuan for helping Ning Rongrong, gives him a Soul Tool containing wealth and cultivation resources, and insists that the reward is deserved. 12
As a sect leader, he is highly calculated and prioritizes the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s interests. He values Qin Yuan’s discretion, integrity, and ability to operate without openly implicating the sect. 12
His willingness to conceal sensitive information can undermine trust. He assigns Qin Yuan to investigate stolen gem materials without initially revealing that the goods belong to Martial Soul Hall; Qin Yuan later concludes that Ning Fengzhi had deliberately underestimated the mission’s danger. 13 16 17
Leadership and Strategy
Management of Ning Rongrong’s education
Ning Fengzhi changes course after conventional instructors fail to engage Rongrong. He authorizes Qin Yuan’s unconventional teaching approach and agrees to cooperate unconditionally if necessary to make the arrangement work. 9 10
- Recognizes that Rongrong’s loneliness and overprotection contribute to her resistance to learning. 9
- Rewards Qin Yuan after Rongrong becomes cheerful, motivated, and academically engaged. 11 12
- Has Qin Yuan regarded within the sect as Rongrong’s “guide,” a role comparable to a teacher on her path as a Soul Master. 14
Sect affairs and covert operations
Ning Fengzhi uses outside agents for matters the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect cannot handle openly. He commissions Qin Yuan to avenge fallen disciples and recover stolen gem materials while concealing the sect’s connection to the transaction. 12 13
- The stolen gem raw materials are valued at two hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins and originated from the black market. 13
- The sect avoids acting directly because the gems are tied to Martial Soul Hall and exposure could create grounds for conflict. 16
- He believes benefits should be exchanged through cooperation rather than by coercing Qin Yuan into joining the sect. 12
Relationships
- Ning Rongrong — His daughter and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s future successor. His overprotection contributes to her loneliness, but he actively seeks a better way to guide her education. 1 9 12
- Qin Yuan — Independent contractor and Ning Rongrong’s guide. Ning Fengzhi rewards him for improving Rongrong’s studies and later entrusts him with dangerous covert work; their relationship deteriorates after the concealed Martial Soul Hall connection is exposed. 10 12 16 17
- Chen Xin / Sword Douluo — Senior sect figure whom Ning Fengzhi calls “Uncle Jian.” Chen Xin protects Rongrong, praises Qin Yuan’s work, and urges Ning Fengzhi to recruit him. 1 12 13
- Gu Rong / Bone Douluo — Senior sect figure involved in discussions of the stolen gem shipment and the sect’s response. 12
- Ning Bao — A Soul Douluo elder dispatched to help Qin Yuan obtain his sixth Soul Ring as part of their agreement. 14
