Background / History

Ning Fengzhi leads the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and is responsible for the education, safety, and future standing of his daughter, Ning Rongrong. When Rongrong runs away to acquire her first Soul Ring through the Golden Saber Squad, he is angered by her disregard for the sect’s established Soul Ring traditions and fears that the squad may endanger her. He sends Sword Douluo Chen Xin to observe the expedition and intervene if needed. 1

After Ning Rongrong becomes increasingly resistant to formal study, Ning Fengzhi recognizes that his overly protective upbringing has left her isolated and without genuine companionship. The immediate dispute also stems from his own words having angered Rongrong into running away. Chen Xin proposes observing the squad rather than simply forcing her home, rewarding it if it acts diligently and intervening without mercy if it endangers her. 1

Hiring Qin Yuan

After realizing that standard tutors have failed Rongrong, Ning Fengzhi commissions Qin Yuan to restore her interest in learning and cultivation. 9 10

He also gives the Golden Saber Squad a former sect shop in Heaven Dou City, which becomes a place Rongrong visits when seeking Qin Yuan’s company. 8

Stolen gem mission

After Qin Yuan returns to Heaven Dou City, Ning Fengzhi uses Rongrong as the intermediary for a commission against Zhao Mingcheng, a former sect member who stole funds, killed two Spirit Saints, and escaped with the help of his uncle Zhao Guangyao to join the Holy Dragon Sect. Ning Fengzhi grants a twelve-million-coin exchange quota and special access through the fifth floor. Qin Yuan uses much of the allowance to secure resources for himself, Chen Ze, Lei Meng, and others, while borrowing a blade-intent stele through an agreement with Chen Xin. 181

Separately, Ning Fengzhi negotiates with a veiled Star Luo envoy. He refuses an outright betrayal of Heaven Dou but accepts a profitable gem-business arrangement. The sect’s limited public participation in the realm conceals a more carefully calculated approach to protecting its interests. 184 186

Seeking a personal alliance

Qin Yuan’s rapid cultivation forces Ning Fengzhi to reconsider his earlier plan of having him join Rongrong’s future circle. He realizes that by the time she inherits the sect, Qin Yuan may already be a Super Douluo, and decides that he must personally pursue an alliance. 204

During Qin Yuan’s friendly spar with Chen Xin, Ning Fengzhi confirms the nature of the disturbance and sends Gu Rong to protect the sect. Afterward, he meets Qin Yuan courteously but does not press for an immediate agreement. 204 206

Rongrong’s Martial Soul evolution

Ning Fengzhi learns through Rongrong’s letter that Qin Yuan helped her evolve into the legendary Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. He repeatedly checks the letter, then summons Chen Xin and Gu Rong to discuss the news. 279

The three recognize that the transformation may make Rongrong the continent’s first support-type Titled Douluo and secure the sect’s future. Ning Fengzhi abandons the idea of binding Qin Yuan to the sect through his daughter and instead agrees to substantial repayment through a Soul Bone and sixth-floor treasures. 279

When Qin Yuan visits, Ning Fengzhi asks what caused the evolution. Qin Yuan identifies aromatic silk beauty and gives him a seed, allowing the sect to cultivate it and search for similar plants. Ning Fengzhi expands the reward to three treasure selections, including Soul Bones. 284

Tournament patronage

Ning Fengzhi rewards the Heaven Dou Second Team’s record-setting preliminary performance with both the official prizes and additional sect gifts. His broader cultivation support contributes to the team’s eventual championship. 314 381

During the finals, he remains alert to Spirit Hall’s intentions. Chen Xin warns that Bibi Dong’s display of numerous Spirit Saints may precede further action after the tournament. When Bibi Dong comments on Rongrong’s Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, Ning Fengzhi minimizes the significance of the opportunity rather than revealing its origin. 362 370

Pursuit of Xiao Wu and commission against Tang Hao

Gu Rong privately informs Ning Fengzhi that Xiao Wu is a transformed hundred-thousand-year Spirit Beast. Ning Fengzhi conceals his reaction during the matches and later decides that Tang Hao must be killed so Xiao Wu’s Soul Ring can be obtained for Rongrong without exposing the sect to endless retaliation. 330

Through Gu Rong, he offers Qin Yuan the spoils from Tang Hao while reserving Xiao Wu for the sect. Qin Yuan recognizes that he is being used as an outside instrument against Tang Hao, but agrees to discuss payment later provided he receives first choice of the spoils. 334

When Xiao Wu is exposed again at Spirit City, Ning Fengzhi tells Chen Xin to wait and observe, hoping Tang Hao’s intervention will create an opening. He privately asks Bibi Dong for compensation if Spirit Hall takes the entire opportunity; she promises not to treat the sect unfairly. 371 374

Xiao Wu’s sacrifice ultimately benefits Bibi Dong rather than the sect. Ning Fengzhi realizes that Qin Yuan and Spirit Hall have no obligation to share their gains merely because the sect pursued her, and hopes Bibi Dong will honor her compensation promise. He is subsequently summoned with Xue Qinghe and Prince Dai’an to identify Tang Hao’s corpse and lend credibility to confirmation of his death. 381

Post-tournament Soul Bone purchase

Rongrong postpones distribution of the team’s Soul Bones until Ning Fengzhi leaves, protecting the process from anticipated pressure in her favor. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect later backs the Suotuo City port and river route alongside the Heaven Dou Empire. The project develops into a major trade corridor, with Flender’s association holding a ten-percent revenue share for ten years through its investment. 433
