Background / History

Jieyin began as the Innate Bitter Bamboo, a Supreme Grade Innate Spiritual Root on Mount Sumeru. Alongside Zhunti's Seven Treasures Bodhi Tree, he was preserved within the Green Lotus World-Purifying Glazed Array. The pair were intended to revive the devastated West and bear its immense Karma. 3

Before taking form, Jieyin recognized that the West's recovering spiritual energy would allow him to manifest within the current kalpa. He intended to help Zhunti take form afterward, as Zhunti's origin had been damaged during the Dao-Demon Conflict. 3

Randeng entered Mount Sumeru's array after refining it and offered to help the pair manifest and establish the Western Teachings. Jieyin initially distrusted an outsider claiming a duty toward the West, but Randeng's accumulated merit and demonstrated restoration of the western earth veins persuaded him to accept Randeng's protection. 3 4

Facing the Form Manifestation Heavenly Tribulation, Jieyin accepted Randeng's extensive Heavenly Dao Oath. The oath required Jieyin and Zhunti to acknowledge Randeng as Lord of the West, avoid betraying him, and take the West's revival as their duty. Randeng shielded him with the Green Lotus World-Purifying Glazed Array and Eastern Green Lotus Precious Color Banner, allowing Jieyin to take human form and stabilize his cultivation. 5

After manifesting, Jieyin undertook the repair of Mount Sumeru's Earth Vein Nodes to earn merit. During this work, he encountered Luohu's trap at the earth-vein core and was immobilized by the Nine-Rank World-Ending Black Lotus until Hongjun later released him. 5 6 9

In Randeng's absence, Jieyin helped spread the call for all Western beings to repair the earth veins, contributing to the West's recovery and the growth of its population. He later guarded Randeng during the restoration of Mount Sumeru's earth-vein core. 9 20

After taking form, Jieyin appears as a tall young man with a waxen-yellow complexion, a solemn yet compassionate expression, and a faint air of bitterness. His hair is tied in a pure topknot, while his eyes are calm and his divine light remains restrained. 5

Personality

Jieyin is cautious and perceptive. When Randeng offered assistance, he immediately questioned why a non-Western Innate Divine Saint would involve himself in the West's restoration; when Randeng entered the array, Jieyin was prepared to force his manifestation rather than remain helpless. 3 4

He is ambitious about cultivation and unwilling to accept permanent damage to his foundation. The prospect of losing his realm or origin to the manifestation tribulation forced him to negotiate with Randeng, ultimately accepting the restrictive oath in exchange for protection. 4 5

Despite this caution, Jieyin can be impulsive in defense of Mount Sumeru and those close to him. He underestimated the danger beneath the mountain, fell into Luohu's trap, and later wanted to kill the captured dragons immediately after their assault on the mountain. 6 18

His loyalty to Zhunti is central to his conduct. The two relied on one another before manifesting, and Jieyin takes an openly protective, teasing elder-brother role after Zhunti gains a human form. 3 21
