Background / History

Randeng is a soul from a later age who awakens in the Mysterious Coffin as Deng Ran, guided by Great God Pangu. Upon Form Transformation, he emerges as an Innate Dao Body, rejects his former identity, and takes the Dao name Randeng. He inherits the Spirit Coffin Lamp and Qiankun Ruler, then cultivates the cave's remaining Chaos Qi to reach peak Taiyi Golden Immortal. 1

Recognizing that Destiny, Merit, and influence are essential to further advancement, Randeng chooses the devastated West as his foundation. He repairs Earth Veins damaged in the Dao-Demon Conflict, absorbs residual Annihilation Law, and gains Heavenly Merit. His efforts draw Western Destiny toward him and lead him to seize several opportunities originally associated with Jieyin and Zhunti, including the Vajra Pestle and Eastern Green Lotus Precious Color Banner. 2 3

At Mount Sumeru, Randeng decides not to eliminate Jieyin and Zhunti despite taking much of their destined foundation. Instead, he makes them oath-bound allies and guides their Form Transformations, intending for them to share the West's Karma and help revive it. 3 5 20

After confronting Luohu's contingency beneath Mount Sumeru, Randeng meets Dao Ancestor Hongjun. Hongjun accepts him as a disciple, teaches him the Method of Slaying Three Corpses to Attain Sainthood, grants him the Jade Void Glazed Lamp, and regards him as a potential bearer of the West's Karma. 8

Randeng subsequently expands his influence beyond the West. He befriends Tongtian and the other Three Pure Ones, aids Zhenyuanzi, defeats Tai Yi and injures Di Jun at the Ginseng Fruit Gathering, allies with the Dragon Clan through Ao Yuan, and assists Houtu and the Witch Clan. 11 13 15 19 23 34

Appearance

Randeng stands eight feet tall and resembles Deng Ran's former appearance, though described as more flawless. He wears an ink-colored robe and carries a profound Annihilation Dao aura. 1

  • Sharp eyebrows and bright eyes. 1
  • Deep eyes containing Annihilation Dao rhyme. 14
  • Usually wears an ink-colored robe. 1 14
  • Often manifests two spirit lamps at his shoulders in battle. 14
  • His presence is associated with decay, destruction, and the Annihilation Law. 1 2

Personality

Randeng is calculating, pragmatic, and intensely focused on building enough Destiny, Merit, resources, and influence to control his own fate. He exploits Heavenly Dao loopholes, intercepts opportunities, and uses Jieyin's vulnerable Form Transformation to bind the Western duo to extensive oaths. 1 3 5

Despite this ruthlessness, he consistently invests in the West and its inhabitants. He repairs Earth Veins, protects Mount Sumeru, rewards Jieyin and Zhunti, guides the Witch Clan, and seeks an alliance with the Dragon Clan rather than destroying it outright. 2 18 21 24

He is also cautious in conflict. Randeng avoids needlessly provoking major factions, spares enemies when strategic, and plans around the future Witch-Demon War. 11 18 19 41
