Background / History

The Witch Clan began with the birth of the Twelve Ancestral Witches. Pangu’s vital blood merged with the twelve turbid qi that descended during the creation of heaven and earth, becoming tainted by malevolent Earth-Vein qi before evolving into the twelve progenitors. 1

Heaven and earth originally intended the clan to absorb baleful qi and regulate the Earth Veins, an undertaking capable of generating great Merit. Instead, much of the clan focused on supremacy, expansion, and conflict, neglecting Earth-Vein regulation. 4

The clan’s population was initially limited: Witch Clan members could only reproduce naturally, and every member was valued highly enough that using them in battles against the Demon Clan was costly. Their reliance on hunting also became a source of conflict as the Demon Clan expanded into their former hunting grounds. 23 29

Houtu brought Randeng’s solution to the clan: Laimu, an Innate Spiritual Root whose fruits increase Blood Essence, supplemented by methods for raising rapidly reproducing spirit beasts. The root could feed more than half of the members below Taiyi Golden Immortal, reducing food-driven conflict and supporting population growth. 24 29

At Pangu Hall, the Twelve Ancestral Witches successfully used the blood pool to purify their combined essence blood into a drop containing pure Pangu bloodline. However, their subsequent attempt to create a new clansman produced only a physical body with no awakened consciousness, revealing that Innate Spiritual Light was necessary for complete life. 32 33

Randeng directed them to a strand of Innate Undying Spiritual Light at Buzhou Mountain’s summit, which could potentially be nurtured in the Pangu Blood Pool to enlighten newly created bodies. The summit can only be reached by those at least at Primordial Golden Immortal. 33

Society and Territory

• Sacred land: Pangu Hall, located at the foot of Buzhou Mountain, is the clan’s sacred land and a rare treasure. The Twelve Ancestral Witches were born from its blood pool. 31
• Territory: Witch Clan tribes occupy the southern region of Buzhou Mountain; Houtu’s Earth tribe expanded southeast toward Wuyi Mountain by following the Earth Veins. 23 31
• Tribal distinctions: Most clan members resemble enlarged Innate Dao Bodies, while individual ancestral tribes display distinct traits. Zhurong’s tribes have fiery-red bodies, scales, and flame patterns; Houtu’s people are robust, dark-yellow skinned, and commonly three to four zhang tall. 31
• Population problem: The blood pool can form Witch Clan bodies from ancestral essence blood, but such bodies remain soulless shells without Innate Spiritual Light. 33

Each Ancestral Witch is innately attuned to a distinct law. Their cultivation relies on strengthening their bloodline, which in turn deepens their control over that law. 24

At their height, the Twelve Ancestral Witches can form the All-Heavenly God-Demon Great Array and summon Pangu’s true form. This combination of absolute law power, powerful physiques, and formation warfare is described as capable of overwhelming the Demon Court without Dao Ancestor intervention. 32

Expansion and Food Crisis

As the clan’s population grows, expansion and hunting bring it into increasing conflict with the Demon Clan. Randeng’s Laimu and livestock-rearing proposal offers a way to feed the clan while avoiding needless clashes with other races. 23 24 29

Randeng’s Visit to Pangu Hall

Houtu escorts Randeng to Pangu Hall, where Dijiang welcomes him in gratitude for aiding the Witch Clan. Zhurong’s hostility creates tension, but Randeng’s mid-stage Grand Unity Golden Immortal pressure forces him back. 31

Blood Pool Experiment

The Twelve reward Randeng with purified Pangu essence blood and the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts. Their own experiment in creating new Witch Clan members exposes the absence of Innate Spiritual Light as the crucial obstacle to population growth. 32 33

Strategy Against the Demon Clan

After Randeng warns that the Demon Clan’s numbers and the Witch Clan’s population shortage are opposing long-term advantages, the Ancestral Witches abandon the idea of immediate war. They instead choose to recruit and lead other races in competition with the Demon Clan. 34

Purple Cloud Palace Preparations

Following Hongjun’s ascension, the Ancestral Witches debate attending his lectures. Despite Zhurong’s objections, Houtu and Dijiang recognize that the Saint’s Dao may offer insight into overcoming the clan’s limitations; they prepare to cultivate toward the Grand Unity threshold needed to enter Chaos. 35 36
