Background & History
Purple Mansion grew around Donghua’s status as the Head of Male Immortals. Rogue cultivators, Innate Deities, survivors of destroyed clans, and those unwilling to join the Demon Race or Gods and Devils sought refuge there, rebuilding their dao fields and clan lands under its protection 3.
In its early period, Donghua explicitly opposed competing for hegemony. He presented Purple Mansion as a place for peaceful cultivation, arguing that its members should establish a heart for Heaven and Earth, contribute to the Primordial World, and become beings of merit and virtue 7 10 70.
Its doctrine was rooted in the Purple Mansion Immortal Path, an inheritance divided into Primordial Spirit, Magical Power, and Body Tempering methods. The path cultivates the Purple Mansion Pure Yang Primordial Spirit, evolves a Purple Mansion World through 108 cycles of qi cultivation, and forges the Pure Yang True Body through the Pure Yang Profound Technique 46.
As its influence expanded, Purple Mansion accepted the Phoenix Clan’s submission despite the burden that clan’s karma placed on its Destiny and Fortune. The Dragon Clan later formally submitted as well, while the hidden Kirin Clan was recruited before Purple Mansion’s major campaigns 48 150 191.
Organization
Purple Mansion was reorganized when its original administration could no longer manage the influx of new immortals and Ancestor Divine Emperors. Donghua adopted an Immortal Dao system based on positional authority rather than divine offices 71.
| Level / Institution | Function and known details |
|---|---|
| Supreme Emperor | Donghua led the faction and held final authority over enfeoffment, military strategy, and administration 78 |
| Great Emperors | Seven Great Emperors were initially established; later records describe nine major Imperial Sovereigns 72 217 |
| Ten Great Immortal Lords | Honored Quasi-Saint-level guests ranked below Emperors but above ordinary Immortal Lords 78 |
| Seventy-Two Immortal Lords | Enfeoffed officials and cultivators within the formal hierarchy 72 |
| Dou Bu | Strike Division; one of the Four Great Departments 71 |
| Lei Bu | Thunder Division; Randeng served as its second-in-command 71 72 |
| Shui Fu | Water Bureau, responsible for one of Purple Mansion’s principal departmental functions 71 |
| Huo Fu | Phoenix Division, associated with the Phoenix Clan’s responsibilities 71 152 |
| Thirty-Five Divisions | Subdivisions that recruited personnel and later led eastern Myriad Treasure Pavilion operations 72 152 |
| Great Commander of Fate | Qinghua Emperor and chief manager of daily affairs alongside Shao Siming 71 72 217 |
Ideology
Purple Mansion publicly emphasized that membership depended on loyalty and commitment rather than race, origin, or social standing. Its declaration helped smaller forces view it as an inclusive and legitimate alternative to the Witch and Yao factions 137 190.
“The Purple Mansion is mine, and it is also yours!” 70
“Regardless of your background or status, as long as your hearts are with Purple Mansion, I will always consider you brothers and treat you equally.” 137
