Moonlight stretched Li Qingqiu's shadow long across the courtyard as he walked toward the house, sword in hand. He could already hear the breathing of the person inside.
His steps were light, utterly silent.
He reached the door, pressed his palm against it. The door was shut tight—he would need force to push it open.
He took a deep breath, then suddenly snapped the door bolt inside, and lunged toward the direction of the breathing.
Lü Taidou, the First Alliance Leader of the Seven Peaks Alliance, was fast asleep on his bed. As a supreme expert renowned across the world, his vigilance was razor-sharp. Even in slumber, the moment the door opened, his eyes flew open.
He caught a glimpse of sword light streaking toward him through the darkness. Startled, he rolled upright and twisted to dodge, but the blade still caught him on the shoulder.
Lü Taidou, a man in his forties with a bear-like face and tiger-like eyes, stared wide. His sideburns and long beard stirred as if blazing with fury.
Li Qingqiu was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected the man to evade his lethal strike.
This person's martial arts far surpassed Yang Jueding's!
"How dare you!"
Lü Taidou bellowed. His right palm gathered inner qi, flames erupting from it as he struck at Li Qingqiu.
Li Qingqiu leaped back, raising his sword and channeling qi to block.
Boom!
The windows shattered from the powerful shockwave. The tables and wooden cabinets on both sides were destroyed as well. The entire house trembled.
Lü Taidou's eyes bulged. His full-strength palm strike had actually been blocked. He saw a qi barrier forming around Li Qingqiu, holding back his surging flame inner qi.
The ground beneath Li Qingqiu's feet had cracked from the pressure—proof of Lü Taidou's immense skill.
"Who are you?" Lü Taidou demanded in a low voice. He dared not withdraw his hand; doing so now would surely injure his internal organs.
Li Qingqiu looked up. His left hand suddenly reached behind his waist, then flung forward. His movement was so fast that by the time Lü Taidou saw it, he had no chance to react.
Three silver needles pierced through his flame qi, threads of lightning sparking along their shafts. They tore through Lü Taidou's throat with unstoppable force.
Lü Taidou's momentum collapsed instantly. The powerful blast sent him flying, crashing into the wall, then tumbling onto the bed, which splintered and collapsed under him in a cloud of dust.
Li Qingqiu withdrew his hand, then turned and walked out of the house.
He lifted the unconscious Seven Peaks Alliance disciple lying in the courtyard, leaped onto the eaves, and ran swiftly across the rooftops. A hundred zhang away, he stopped on another rooftop and used the Spring Return Ghost Immortal Needle to wake the disciple.
The disciple's eyes snapped open, as if waking from a nightmare, gasping for air.
Li Qingqiu covered his mouth and said in a low voice, "Keep leading the way. Take me to the other Alliance Leaders."
This Seven Peaks disciple was named Chen Ye. He had joined the alliance less than half a year ago and was currently stuck with gatekeeping and errand-running duties, having not yet learned any of the alliance's advanced martial arts.
In his mind, First Alliance Leader Lü Taidou was the Number One Under Heaven. So he had led Li Qingqiu to Lü Taidou's courtyard first, hoping Li Qingqiu would bite off more than he could chew.
But from Li Qingqiu's words... was Lü Taidou already dead by his hand?
Impossible!
Chen Ye's eyes went wide as he stared at Li Qingqiu in disbelief. Up close, he could see Li Qingqiu's face clearly—far too young.
So young it felt unreal.
Li Qingqiu frowned and asked in a low voice, "Are you stupid, or deaf?"
Chen Ye snapped back to reality and blinked frantically. Seeing this, Li Qingqiu grabbed him and made him point the way.
The commotion from Lü Taidou's courtyard had roused nearby disciples. They rushed out of their houses, heading toward the source of the noise.
Li Qingqiu and Chen Ye had barely gone any distance when they heard a mysterious horn sound in the distance, ringing out sharply under the night sky.
He saw people pouring out of courtyards in every direction. He had no choice but to press Chen Ye down and lie flat, hiding from the eyes of the Seven Peaks disciples.
"What's that sound?" Li Qingqiu asked quietly.
Chen Ye swallowed. "That's the Seven Peaks Alliance's Invasion Horn. At the slightest sign of trouble, the horn sounds. Even if it's a false alarm, the Alliance Leaders won't punish anyone. But if an enemy infiltrates and the disciple in charge of the horn doesn't blow it, no matter the reason, they'll be severely punished."
Soon, horns sounded from other directions as well. It turned out the Invasion Horn wasn't stationed in just one place.
Li Qingqiu had to admit he had underestimated the Seven Peaks Alliance's vigilance. No wonder there were no night patrols—this hidden line of defense was in place.
"Once the Invasion Horn sounds, there's no way you can sneak up on the other Alliance Leaders without being noticed," Chen Ye said quietly. If Lü Taidou was dead, he was terrified Li Qingqiu would drag him in front of the others.
Hearing this, Li Qingqiu struck him again, sending him into unconsciousness.
Then Li Qingqiu began stripping off Chen Ye's clothes and quickly put them on himself. He even took Chen Ye's sword, then jumped down from the rooftop.
He continued walking in the direction Chen Ye had pointed earlier.
More and more Seven Peaks disciples emerged from their houses. Li Qingqiu ran into many of them face-to-face. Only now did he truly grasp the depth of the Seven Peaks Alliance.
Three thousand men sounded like a small number on paper, but encountering them in person made their scale terrifying.
And the Seven Peaks Alliance was a genuine major martial sect—every disciple had martial arts training.
As he walked, Li Qingqiu reflected on Lü Taidou's inner qi.
"The martial path is no simple matter."
Li Qingqiu thought to himself that if he hadn't broken through to the Nourishing Yuan Realm Third Layer, killing Lü Taidou would have been very troublesome. Exhausting his Origin Energy to slay Lü Taidou would have made escaping from the Seven Peaks Alliance no easy feat.
Lü Taidou was merely a martial expert from Guzhou. The Great Li Dynasty had other prefectures, and there were bound to be beings stronger than him under heaven.
From now on, he must not underestimate the people of the world!
Though Li Qingqiu had successfully slain the enemy leader, this made him even more cautious.
Of course, if he had to do it again, he would still act the same way, at most waiting for a better opportunity.
With an expert like Lü Taidou, the Seven Peaks Alliance was far from something the Qingxiao Sect could provoke at present. He couldn't very well restrict the movements of his sect's disciples while waiting for the Seven Peaks Alliance to invade en masse.
Wearing the disciple robes of the Seven Peaks Alliance, Li Qingqiu didn't arouse suspicion. He didn't deliberately avoid anyone either—that would have seemed odd. Instead, he strode forward openly, brushing past one Seven Peaks Alliance disciple after another.
Suddenly.
He stopped at the entrance of a courtyard. Turning his head to look, he furrowed his brow.
He heard a very faint crying sound, as if someone was sobbing quietly. And it wasn't just one person—another, though not crying, had weak breathing.
He didn't want to meddle in others' affairs, but for some reason, he thought of his junior brothers and junior sisters.
When Zhang Yuchun, Jiang Zhaoxia, and Li Dongyue first arrived at Qingxiao Sect, they too had been afraid and hidden away to cry alone. Wu Man'er wasn't so sentimental—just give him food and he was fine. Li Sifeng and Li Sijin had each other for company, so they weren't as scared or lonely.
He hesitated for a moment, then walked into the courtyard, making his way to a room. The yard was piled with firewood and clutter, with no one guarding it.
He gently pushed open the door and squinted inside. He saw that the room was filled with dry firewood, and a child was sitting against the woodpile. Moonlight streamed through a hole in the roof, spilling right onto that child.
The child looked only seven or eight years old. Most crucially, he was holding an even younger child in his arms, and it was he who was crying.
Li Qingqiu pushed the door open and entered, startling the child into turning his head to look at him.
"Do you want to leave?"
Li Qingqiu looked at him and asked directly.
The child wore tattered, filthy clothes, much like Xu Ning had back then.
Faced with Li Qingqiu's question, the child asked dazedly, "Can I?"
"If you're willing, I'll take both of you away," Li Qingqiu replied.
Hearing this, the child quickly stood up, clutching the child in his arms tightly. That child looked only one or two years old, and a foul stench emanated from them.
"Who are you?"
The young Yuan Qi asked cautiously. He had never seen Li Qingqiu before, but the thought of being able to leave the Seven Peaks Alliance made his heartbeat quicken.
Li Qingqiu answered, "I don't belong to the Seven Peaks Alliance. I killed their leader and am about to withdraw."
Hearing this, Yuan Qi wasn't frightened. His eyes widened, tears brimming in them, and he actually smiled.
"I'll go with you, but you have to take my little brother!" Yuan Qi wiped his tears and stared at Li Qingqiu seriously.
Li Qingqiu nodded. "From now on, you and your brother join my sect. How about that?"
"No problem. We'll join your sect and repay your kindness in the future!"
Yuan Qi agreed without hesitation. Li Qingqiu immediately walked over to him, took the younger brother from his arms, and used a dirty cloth on the ground to bind the child, who was less than two years old, to his chest. Then, he scooped up Yuan Qi with one arm and strode quickly out of the house.
After leaving the room, Yuan Qi, by the moonlight, finally saw Li Qingqiu's face clearly. His pupils dilated, and a strange light flickered in his eyes. This scene would be forever etched in his memory.
Once outside, Li Qingqiu leaped onto the eaves and moved forward with light, swift steps.
He then called up the Legacy System to check the number of disciples. Sure enough, the Yuan Qi brothers had been added. He tapped on Yuan Qi's avatar to check his loyalty.
90/80!
Not bad. This kid has some conscience.
Li Qingqiu didn't examine his fate in detail. He skipped over it and subconsciously tapped on Yuan Qi's younger brother's avatar.
The moment he opened it, he regretted it. This child was so young and still unconscious—how could he have any loyalty?
As expected, Yuan Qi's younger brother was named Yuan Li, and his loyalty was all zeros.
But the next second, Li Qingqiu's eyes widened, and an expression of disbelief appeared on his face. He even stopped in his tracks.
[Name: Yuan Li]

[Cultivation Aptitude: Extremely Low]

[Indestructible Hegemon Body: A rare ancient physique of the mortal world, a great fortune of heaven and earth. However, because the host was born into the mundane realm, a special method is required to awaken it.]

[Tenacity: No matter what trials are endured, the will will never waver.]
Jackpot!
Three fate entry lines—Indestructible Hegemon Body and Master's Heart looked incredibly strong, especially Indestructible Hegemon Body. That thing was too mysterious!
Li Qingqiu looked down again, feeling as though the Yuan Li in his arms was radiating golden light.
Yuan Qi, held in his other arm, saw him stop and look down at his little brother, and couldn't help asking nervously, "What's wrong with my brother?"
Li Qingqiu raised his eyes to look ahead, continued walking, and casually replied, "He seems to have peed."
Yuan Qi was instantly mortified. He lowered his head and whispered, barely audible, "Sorry..."
